JIMMY GARVIN VS. JOHNNY B. BADD

Earlier in the night, Michael Hayes showed a note to Nick Bockwinkel (the WCW Commissioner) which got him out of his match tonight with Johnny B. Badd. Bockwinkel substitutes Hayes with his tag partner, Jimmy Garvin. Because at least 6 people faced to see Badd take on a Freebird dammit! Tony Schiavone and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan are on commentary for this match. Johnny B. Badd makes his way out first, Jimmy Garvin follows, pushing Michael PS Hayes in a wheelchair. Tony says he’s milking it but Brain says it’s justified.

JIMMY GARVIN VS. JOHNNY B. BADD

WCW SuperBrawl IV (20th February 1994)

They lock up, Johnny B. Badd forces Garvin into the corner before making a clean break. Heenan mentions it’s Garvin’s first match in over a year, we see an awkward angle of Hayes watching from the rampway as Johnny B. Badd takes Garvin down with a hammerlock, but it’s countered with a headscissors and they get to their feet. Jimmy Garvin goes outside to talk to Hayes and goes back to lock up. He ends up in a headlock and sends Badd off the ropes, Jimmy Garvin with a drop-down and leapfrog, he attempts a hip toss but Johnny B. Badd blocks it and puts on a hammerlock. Garvin is taken down with a headlock, Jimmy Garvin fights to keep his shoulder off the mat, then counters with a headscissors as Hayes tells Garvin to squeeze the head off his opponent. Johnny B. Badd counters with another hammerlock on the mat and turns Garvin over for a nearfall. Johnny B. Bad takes Garvin down with an arm drag, isolating the left arm on the mat. Garvin takes things back into the corner and forces Badd to break the hold. Jimmy Garvin breaks clean but doesn’t quite get the reaction Johnny B. Badd did. They lock up and trade arm wringers until Johnny B. Badd takes it down to the mat again, Jimmy Garvin fights out of a top wristlock but Badd still works the arm wringer as Jimmy Garvin gets to his feet and pulls Badd down by the hair.

The referee noticed the hair pull, but with these guys it would be harder to avoid, Jimmy Garvin calls for a timeout and Hayes gives him some advice. It is all for naught as he walks into a drop toehold and gets put in a hammerlock on the mat. We get some more wide shots as Garvin gets to his feet and takes it to the corner again, this time he connects with knee strikes and right hands. Johnny B. Badd reverses an irish whip but runs into Garvin’s boot in the corner. Jimmy Garvin covers and gets a nearfall, so he sends B. Badd’s head into the turnbuckles. Garvin snapmares Badd down and puts on a reverse chinlock, Johnny B. Badd fights out of the chinlock but runs into a knee to the midsection. Johnny B. Badd counters the DDT and builds momentum with right hands and kicks. Garvin reverses an irish whip but is caught in an ugly headscissors. Jimmy Garvin is sent off the ropes into a backdrop and Badd sets up the Kiss that don’t Miss, but Jimmy Garvin ducks it, Badd with an uppercut! Johnny B Badd climbs to the top rope, diving onto Garvin with a sunset flip 1, 2, 3!

WINNER: JOHNNY B. BADD

The match picked up after the early stalling, Jimmy Garvin had to use cheap tricks to gain any momentum and the match showcased Johnny B. Badd and stretched out his program with Michael Hayes. No bad but nothing great either. [*½] 2/10

Johnny B Badd stalks Michael Hayes on the rampway but Jimmy Garvin cuts him off, Jimmy Garvin hits a jawbreaker (but more of a Stunner) to Badd and calls it the 911.
