JOHN CENA (C) VS. EDGE

Jerry “The King” Lawler, Joey Styles, and Jonathan Coachman are on commentary for this match.

Immediately following the previous match Vince McMahon walks out to the stage and tells everybody the Pay-Per-View is not over. The chamber is raised and McMahon congratulates Cena, which gets more boos than cheers. He announces that Edge will cash in his Money in the Bank contract on John Cena right now for his WWE Championship match

JOHN CENA VS. EDGE (WWE Championship)

WWE New Year’s Revolution 2006 (8th January 2006)

Edge slides in the ring as Lita waits at ringside and waits for the referee to ring the bell, which he won’t do until Cena gets to his feet. The bell rings and Edge lays in right hands to John Cena in the corner. He covers but Cena kicks out at 2, on two consecutive occasions. Edge waits across the ring for Cena again, John Cena gets to his feet and is cut in half with a Spear! 1, 2, 2.999, Cena gets his shoulder up again!  Edge hits another Spear and it’s enough to keep John Cena down and strangely, send the fans home happy tonight. It’s a contrast to how commentary is handling it, saying that Edge stole the championship.

WINNER: EDGE (NEW WWE Champion)

Not enough of a match to give a star rating, but it also shouldn’t have been as long as it was. John Cena had just  defended his title from the beginning of an Elimination Chamber match, Edge was seen to be preying on Cena but he stil kicked out of a Spear. It was a historic moment, but too much. 2/10.
