THE DUDLEY BOYZ VS. KIDMAN, LONDON & MYSTERIO

 The opening video parodies the Olympic Games that just passed in Athens. Then they run down the card for tonight, The Smackdown team of Michael Cole and Tazz, who will be on commentary for this match. The Dudley Boyz enter first, Spike is the current Cruiserweight champion, and the new boss of his brothers. He turned on Rey Mysterio 2 weeks previous on Smackdown and put him through a table with a stomp through a table. Speaking of, out comes Mysterio, with the WWE Tag Team champions, Billy Kidman and Paul London.

 

THE DUDLEY BOYZ VS. REY MYSTERIO, BILLY KIDMAN & PAUL LONDON

WWE Summerslam 2004 (15^th August 2004)

 

D-Von Dudley and Billy Kidman start, they lock up, D-Von strikes first with a knee to the gut but is stunned with right hands, he throws Kidman into the corner and connects with some of his own, and a back elbow. Billy Kidman is sent across the ring but he takes D-Von down with a headscissors, D-Von runs into an arm drag, Kidman ducks a clothesline and connects with a dropkick for a nearfall. Paul London gets the tag and the champions send D-Von across the ring into a back elbow, Kidman assists London with a moonsault and they get 2. D-Von reverses an irish whip sending London into the corner, but London meets him with a back elbow, London hits the dropsault for another 2 count. Bubba pulls London down by his hair from the apron, but the referee misses it. D-Von Dudley clotheslines London and covers but Rey Mysterio breaks it up. Spike Dudley gets the tag, D-Von slams London in position for a stomp from the top rope, Spike covers but only gets 2. London’s head is sent into the turnbuckle then Spike unloads right hands in the corner. He stomps on London’s shoulders and sends him into Bubba Ray’s boot in the corner. Bubba Ray Dudley tags in and hits a suplex on London, followed by a falling headbutt and elbow drop. Bubba covers but the referee is with Kidman and Mysterio. He must have been a WCW fan. Paul London kicks out before the referee is ready to count, Bubba hits him with a right then tags in D-Von. D-Von Dudley snapares London into a rear chinlock. Paul London fights to his feet but runs into a powerslam by D-Von. He covers but Kidman makes the save for his team. D-Von drags London back to the Dudleyz corner and tags in Bubba, who slaps and kicks London. Paul London fights to his feet with forearms and kicks, He hits the ropes but runs into a knee to the kidney from D-Von. D-Von Dudley holds London, but Paul London avoids a charging Bubba Ray Dudley! London crawls over for the tag, but Bubba grabs his ankle, Paul London hits an enziguri! He continues to the corner but Spike gets the tag! Paul London fights off Spike and in comes Rey Mysterio. Spike has nowhere to hide as Mysterio lays in right hands. Spike is sent off the ropes into a flapjack, Rey hits the springboard legdrop and covers but Spike kicks out at 2. Rey sends him into the corner, but doesn’t like it so sends Spike across the ring. Spike Dudley is perched on the top turnbuckle, Rey climbs to the top rope and hits a hurricanrana and covers for 2. Spike Dudley reverses an irish whip sending Mysterio into the corner, Rey Mysterio has a headscissors but Spike sends him over to the apron. Rey with a shoulder block through the ropes drops Spike Dudley, Bubba goes down to a springboard seated senton as he gets back in the ring. D-Von Dudley gets in the ring, catching Mysterio but it’s countered into an inverted DDT! Rey sends Spike off the ropes but is caught with a headbutt to the midsection, Mysterio backs into a tag from Kidman who hits a flying back elbow on Spike Dudley. He runs through Bubba Ray with a clothesline and sends D-Von over with a backdrop as it breaks down. Kidman hits the BK Bomb on Spike and covers, as they’re the legal men, Bubba breaks it up but London cuts off any D-Von interference. Rey Mysterio goes after Spike, Kidman and London dropkick Bubba out of the ring. Kidman is used as a step as London launches himself over the top rope with a somersault senton onto Bubba, Kidman lifts Spike into a Hart Attack with Rey Mysterio then catapults Spike Dudley into the middle rope, Rey Mysterio hits the 619 as Kidman climbs to the top rope. He hits the Shooting Star Press but D-Von pulls him off the cover. Paul London runs into a decapitation by clothesline from D-Von and all three Dudleys are in the ring with Kidman. Bubba Ray has a belt, but Kidman cuts him off with a kick to the gut before running into the 3-D. Spike Dudley covers for the win.

WINNERS: THE DUDLEY BOYZ

 This was a nice 6-man tag match. It told it’s story without going too long and I’m never pissed off about seeing either of these guys on the card. It was a decent enough match, sticking to a formula well and everyone coming out of it looking credible[**½] 5.5/10.
