JAZZ (C) VS. TRISH STRATUS VS. VICTORIA VS. JACQUELINE

Before the match, we see Steve Austin and Eric Bischoff in one of the Skybox, a recurring skit tonight. Austin is talking about the World Heavyweight Championship match, he offers Bischoff a Jalapeno and doesn't take no for an answer, Eric complains that he's overeaten and hasn't had a Jalapeno before. Austin puts over Minnesota minus Bischoff as Eric hurls out of the window.

This leads us into Raw's next match with Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler on commentary. Trish Stratus is the first woman to enter, followed by Jacqueline. Victoria is out next accompanied by Steven Richards. The champion Jazz rounds out the pack with Theodore Long walking with her to the ring.

Steven Richards trips Trish from ringside immediately, allowing Victoria to get the jump on her. Jazz and Jacqueline jump in the fray before taking their brawl to the other side of the ring. Victoria and Jazz try and make Trish and Jacqueline meet in the middle of the ring, but they counter it, Trish knocks down Victoria as Jacqueline knocks down Jazz. They hit stereo dropkicks leaving them alone in the ring and making this a lot easier. Steven Richards is checking on Victoria as they lock up. Trish Stratus grabs a headlock, Jacqueline counters out with a top wristlock and takes Trish down, but she kips up and goes back to it. Jacqueline sends her off the ropes Victoria drags Trish from the ring. Jazz gets back in, but Jacqueline hits her with right hands as Trish is sent into the ring post. Jacqueline hits a butterfly suplex and covers but Victoria breaks it up. Victoria hits a TKO into a sideslam on Jacqueline and Jazz breaks up the pin. She lifts Victoria in a double chickenwing before dropping her to the mat, then repeats it on Jacqueline as Teddy Long cheers her on.

Trish Stratus takes a turn at the champion with a flurry of forearms, Jazz reverses an irish whip but Trish knocks her down with a jumping clothesline for a nearfall. Trish Stratus sends Jazz off the ropes, Jazz ducks a Chick Kick, Trish tries it again and Jazz grabs her ankle, taking her down into an STF. Jacqueline looks to break it up but gets interrupted by Victoria, Jacqueline catches a kick and trips Victoria, putting her in a boston crab. Trish Stratus makes it to the ropes, Jazz holds on for a couple of seconds before releasing. Jazz boots Jacqueline in the head to break her boston crab and send her out to the floor. Jazz puts the STF on Victoria, but Trish breaks it up with a dropkick. Steven Richards rolls Victoria to the safety of ringside, Jazz hits Trish Stratus with a jawbreaker, then chops her as she gets to her feet. Jazz and Trish Stratus exchange right hands, Trish avoids a clothesline with a Matrix like bend back, then hits the Chick Kick on Jazz. Jacqueline meets Victoria at ringside and brings her back in as Trish is roundhouse kicking Jazz in the corner.

Jacqueline puts Victoria on the top rope, Trish Stratus does the same to Jazz, Trish hits her headscissors to the mat but Victoria is able to fight off the superplex, Trish hits the headscissors on Victoria too! Trish sets up for the Stratusfaction but Victoria sends her over the top rope to the floor! Victoria tries a Widows Peak on Jacqueline but she is able to fight back to her feet, Jacqueline sends Victoria over and covers with a bridge but Jazz breaks it up with a running splash. Jazz hits a DDT on Jacqueline and covers for the win.

WINNER: JAZZ (STILL WWE Women’s Champion)

There was a lot to like crammed into this short match. Jazz and Trish Stratus’ sequences kept the match together, Steven Richards got involved enough that he had reason to be there, but still be in the background. My only gripe would be that they could be given more time and get a better match, the stereo submission spot definitely needed fleshing out and Trish’s crawl to the ropes seemed rushed. But it’s the better end of what to expect for women’s matches in this era. [**] /10.
