CHAVO GUERRERO VS. EDDIE GUERRERO

In the build-up to this match, Eddie Guerrero had lost both the United States and tag team Championships in quick succession, leading to dissension within Los Guerreroes. Chavo Guerrero Sr. is with his son. Michael Cole and Tazz are on commentary, Cole loses his mind about how the Chavos betrayed Eddie and beat him down. Eddie Guerrero is here in his Low Rider, ready for the match.

They circle and go into a tense lock up, moving around the ring and getting into the ropes, Nick Patrick tells them to break it but they move back to the center of the ring before Eddie shoves Chavo, which is swiftly met with a slap to the face. They lock up again and Eddie takes Chavo to the corner before he reluctantly breaks the hold. Chavo runs into a hammerlock, Eddie Guerrero brings him to the mat with a drop toe hold and has him in a rear chinlock. Chavo Guerrero gets to his feet, forcing Eddie into the corner, he chops Eddie before backing off. Eddie looks pissed off, he locks up with Chavo again, backs him into the corner and answers in kind, which seemed to cheer him up. They lock up and Chavo gets a headlock, Eddie sends him off the ropes but gets knocked down with a shoulder tackle. He grabs another headlock and is sent off the ropes but again Chavo knocks Eddie down with a shoulder tackle.

They exchange chops in the middle of the ring, Eddie pokes Chavo in the eye and they go back to the corner and Chavo shoves him away, Eddie trips Chavo and moves into an armbar on the mat, he tries to force Chavo's shoulders down, but they make it to their feet, Chavo jumps on Eddie's shoulder and takes him out of the ring with a headscissors over the top rope. Chavo is the first to get back in the ring at the count of 3, Eddie starts making his way up the steps but Chavo Guerrero Sr. trips him behind the referee's back. Chavo Jr goes back to ringside, attacking Eddie with right hands and bouncing his head off the announce table before bringing it back in the ring. Chavo lays in boots and mounted right hands, Eddie switches positions and gets to his feet. Chavo takes Eddie down and gets in more cross face shots, Eddie tries to put Chavo in an armbar from the mat, but Chavo keeps his hands clasped, he makes it to the bottom rope and Eddie breaks the hold. Chavo Guerrero hits a back suplex and covers for a nearfall as his dad coaches from ringside. Chavo Guerrero tries to hit the Three Amigos but Eddie lands on his feet for the third one and shoves Chavo into the corner but he runs into a back elbow. Eddie Guerrero counters a tornado DDT from the corner and hits the Three Amigos, He hits the Frog Splash for the win.

WINNER: EDDIE GUERRERO

I liked the story of Eddie Guerrero trying to control his temper, even if the match was a bit slow., not kicking it up a gear until the finish. Both guys looked good from the match, but it's difficult to imagine Eddie being WWE champion by the time Wrestlemania rolls around. There was nothing technically wrong with the match, it just seemed “there” [**] but personally, I'd rate it 3.5/10.

After the match, Eddie decks Chavo Sr. He goes to leave the ring, but decides against it, kicking Chavo Sr. in the balls and making sure he hits the floor with a right hand, Eddie hits Chavo Jr with calm mounted rights as Cole claims he's erupting. Chavo Sr. is tied to the ring ropes, giving Chavo Jr time to blade, Eddie stomps at Chavo in the corner then targets the cut with right hands before dragging Chavo by his face over to his father.
