KANE VS. CHRIS JERICHO

Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary for this match. Before the match, we see a promo from Undertaker inside the lowered Hell in a Cell from earlier tonight on Heat. Then Mr. McMahon walks down to the ring with Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco Patterson straightens out the ring steps before Mr, McMahon can get in the ring and Brisco holds the ropes open. McMahon says he stands by every statement he made on last week's Smackdown including expressing his concern for tonight's main event. The fans chant “asshole” at Vince before he asks for them to support his protest of tonight's main event Hell in a Cell match which gets a boo. Since the fans won't help him stop the Hell in a Cell going ahead he says the results will be on their conscience as well as Mick Foley's. They don't seem to care.

This match came from the infamous burning coffee angle. The video before the match makes me realize how much I miss seeing people get thrown through windows backstage. Kane makes his way to the ring first, he walks back up the entranceway and meets Jericho with right hands, starting the match.

Chris Jericho and Kane brawl through the curtain and we don't have sight of them for a while. As a camera gets backstage we see Kane throw an equipment box, but Jericho ducks it. Chris Jericho cuts Kane off with a kick to the gut and right hands but Kane sends his head into a flatbed truck, Jericho throws sawdust at Kane. They each take a shot at someone I don't recognize and brawl back to the entrance, Teddy Long is the referee for this match, by the way. Kane sends Jericho into the barricade, Kane lifts Jericho on to his shoulder but gets sent into the ring post as JR and King are talking about Texas Deathmatches. Kane's head is bounced off the steps and Jericho sends him into the ring. Chris Jericho hits a flying back elbow and mounted punches. Kane reverses an irish whip but ducks early and Jericho kicks him. Kane is clotheslined over the floor but he lands on his feet, Jericho jumps off the apron but Kane catches him and rams him into the ring post then hits a powerslam. Teddy Long starts counting, but Jericho is up at 5.

Kane boots Jericho in the face and sends his head into the ring steps, he hits Jericho with a right hand and Jericho leans on the barricade to stay on his feet. Kane brings it back in the ring and hits a backbreaker on Jericho. Kane sends Jericho's head into the top turnbuckle and shoulder barges him in the midsection. Jericho is sent across the ring and drops to the mat. Kane hits him with right hands on the mat and boots Jericho as he gets to his feet. Chris Jericho fights back with kicks in the corner, but Kane cuts him off with a back elbow. An uppercut is followed by another back elbow and Kane keeps Jericho in the corner. Kane uppercuts Jericho then boots him as Jericho slumps in the corner. Kane sends him across the ring with a hip toss. He lifts Jericho into the Gory Special position, Chris Jericho fades and Long drops the arm three times before telling Kane to drop Jericho, Long starts counting and Jericho starts stirring at 5, he uses the ropes to try getting to his feet but Kane cuts off the count with a boot. He sends Jericho from corner to corner but runs into a big boot, Kane catches Jericho in mid-air and hits him with a Chokeslam!

Kane goes for a jumping elbow drop but Jericho moves out of the way, Jericho ducks a right hand and hits the ropes, he knocks Kane down with a spinning heel kick. Kane gets his knees up on the Lionsault attempt and climbs to the top rope, he hits the flying clothesline and the referee starts the count. Y2J is on his feet at 7, but walks into a right hand from Kane, then another. Kane gets a run-up for the third right hand and the referee starts counting Jericho down. Chris Jericho's up at 7 and Kane hits him with another Chokeslam. Chris Jericho just beats the count, getting to his feet at 9 so Kane grabs a chair from ringside. He hits Chris Jericho in the midsection, then again across the back. Chris Jericho counters a Tombstone and hits Kane with a low blow followed by a DDT. Jericho collapses from exhaustion but is able to use the ropes to get to his feet at 6. Kane is almost on his feet as Jericho boots him, Jericho hits Kane with a chairshot to the head, and has to use the ropes to get to his feet again.

Kane gets to his feet at 6 and Jericho meets him with right hands. Kane reverses an irish whip but Jericho hits a flying forearm, he goes to the top rope and hits a missile dropkick. Jericho hits a bulldog on Kane and places the chair on Kane before hitting a Lionsault. That hurts them both, leaving Teddy Long to count them both down. Chris Jericho gets to his feet at 8 and Teddy just stops counting as Kane sits up and gets to his feet. Chris Jericho runs into a big boot before Kane lifts him overhead and sends him over to the floor. Kane follows and kicks him in the ribs, Jericho is sent into the barricade as they move towards the st. Kane bounces Jericho's head off a speaker, he climbs onto the Speaker with Jericho but Chris Jericho fights out of the Chokeslam, he hits a facebuster on Kane through the table and the referee counts them both down. Chris Jericho is up at 5. Teddy Long gets to 7 as Chris Jericho moves over to some oil drums used for the set. He pushes them over on to Kane and the referee begins counting, Chris Jericho is on his feet before the count of 10, but Kane is trapped under the barrels.

WINNER: CHRIS JERICHO

I enjoyed this match, the earlier Last Man Standing Matches didn't rely on weapons in spite of the era they were in. Chris Jericho got enough of the match to look competitive but needed an advantage there to get any damage on Kane, they worked that balance well. The finish was a bit over the top and was recent to Shane McMahon doing a similar thing with a speaker at Judgement Day, but I enjoy this match the more times I watch it..– As a match it's *** but personally I'd rate it 6.5/10
