IRON SHEIK VS. JUNKYARD DOG
WWF The Wrestling Classic (7th November 1985)
Iron Sheik attacks at the bell and chokes JYD with his ring jacket, which the commentators squabble over the name of. He stomps Dog on the mat before spitting on him. That seems to rejuvenate Junkyard Dog as he makes his way to his feet through a barrage of right hands, then fires back some of his own. Junkyard Dog knocks Sheik down with a headbutt. Iron Sheik begs off with bows towards JYD and gets to his feet, but gets knocked down with another headbutt so he takes a walk outside. He gets back in the ring at 6 and they lock up, Iron Sheik puts on a full nelson but JYD powers out of it. Iron Sheik is sent back into the ropes and JYD clotheslines him down for a nearfall. Junkyard Dog snapmares Iron Sheik down but misses the falling headbutt. Iron Sheik pus on the camel clutch for a looong time, letting Junkyard Dog's arms go free because he's worn down. There's some confusion on commentary as to what's happened there. JYD tries to get to his feet in the corner, but Sheik's there with rights and stomps, the referee backs him off but Iron Sheik shoves him out of the way and goes back to the attack. The referee backs him off again and gets shoved out of the way as commentary mention he's being lenient. Junkyard Dog cuts Iron Sheik off with a headbutt and covers for the win.
WINNER: JUNKYARD DOG
This was a good formulaic match, Iron Sheik got the early heat, JYD got to shine until a mistake, Iron Sheik's heel tactics cost him at the end to make the fans happy.– As a match it's * but personally I'd rate it 2/10
