YOKOZUNA VS LEX LUGER

Yokozuna enters first, with Jim Cornette and Mr. Fuji. Lex Luger's pulled out his pro-USA gear for this match against Yokozuna. Currently a part of the Allied Powers with British Bulldog. Jerry “The King” Lawler and Vince McMahon are on commentary. Lawler is preparing his foot for the “Kiss My Foot” match against Bret Hart at King of the Ring (Here) and has it out on commentary.

YOKOZUNA VS. LEX LUGER

WWF Raw (12th June 1995)

They wave their respective flags before making contact. The fans chant “USA” and Yokozuna pokes Luger in the chest, Luger slaps him away, then hits some rights. Luger runs the ropes but Yokozuna ducks the clothesline and slams Luger. Lex Luger avoids an elbow drop and works Yokozuna in an arm wringer, Yoko sends Luger off the ropes into the corner, but Luger avoids the splash, before going back to the arm wringer. Yokozuna breaks out in the corner and Luger avoids a turnbuckle smash. Yokozuna eats 10 and the crowd count along because it's the 90's. Lex Luger knocks Yokozuna out of the ring. Vince McMahon mentions that the winner will face Razor Ramon, who has injured ribs. Yokozuna beats the count because it kept getting interrupted. Lex Luger backs him into the corner with rights and hits mounted corner punches. Yokozuna sends Lex Luger halfway across the ring but misses the leg drop. Mr. Fuji distracts Lex Luger from ringside, giving Yokozuna a chance to hit him from behind, knocking him into the corner. More right hands by Yokozuna in the corner if you can believe it, before he chokes Luger on the mat. The fans chant "USA" again and Yokozuna goes back to the choke as we go to commercial.

Lex Luger is in a nerve hold as we return, but fights his way out. He ducks one clothesline but not the second. Yokozuna chops Luger in the corner then sends him across the ring. Lex Luger avoids being sandwiched in the corner. Luger hits right hands to Yokozuna, running shoulder tackles barely touch Yokozuna. Lex goes to the second rope, two consecutive double ax handles still don't take Yokozuna off his feet. A flying clothesline finally does it and the crowd wakes up. Mr. Fuji walks over to Lex's second and slaps him in the face, stealing the American flag and drawing Luger out of the ring. Jim Cornette tries to hit him from behind, but Luger turns around and decks him. Lex Luger retrieves the flag from Mr, Fuji and gets it back from his second. Yokozuna sends Luger into the ring post. Yokozuna is back in the ring at 7, leaving Lex Luger to be counted out.

WINNER: YOKOZUNA

My main question is why would Luger have that guy out there instead of a wrestler? It didn't even have to be Bulldog, with his Hart Family connections, just any American babyface. IT was a hoss match but it just didn't get out of first gear. It's only 7 minutes long but it feels longer, the fans were into it with the Patriotic connection but it was a nothing match to me.– As a match it's *½ but personally I'd rate it 2.75/10
