KING CUERNO VS. JOHNNY MUNDO

Matt Striker and Vampiro are on commentary for this match. King Cuerno enters first, setting the head-dress on a post outside the ring. Vampiro blames steel cage matches for his career having ended before Johnny Mundo makes his way out. Matt Striker mentions the weak points on Mundo's left leg and neck.

KING CUERNO VS. JOHNNY MUNDO (Steel Cage match)

The bell rings as we come back from commercial and the door is locked. They exchange right hands, Mundo clubs at Cuerno's chest, and hits him with forearms. King Cuerno tries to send him into the cage but Mundo gets his foot up. King Cuerno avoids going into the cage and kicks Mundo. Johnny Mundo slips behind, getting a side headlock. Cuerno punches Mundo and sends him off the ropes, Mundo baseball slides under a leapfrog but is socked in the mouth. He reverses an irish whip and charges at Cuerno, getting hoisted overhead to the top rope. He hits a knee strike from the top rope for a nearfall. Johnny Mundo stomps Cuerno but is rolled up, but he quickly kicks out. King Cuerno tries to roll Mundo up again, but Mundo gets out of it, leading to a stand-off. King Cuerno wants to lock up, Mundo obliges but eats a cheap shot to the midsection and goes down with a beautiful dropkick. King Cuerno kicks at Mundo whilst he's on the floor and slams him down from a fireman's carry. King Cuerno walks the top rope and hits a splash for a nearfall.

King Cuerno tries to keep Mundo on the mat with an armbar but is kicked in the head. Johnny Mundo charges but Cuerno lifts him into a stun gun across the top of the cage and sweeps Mundo's leg from under him. Johnny Mundo is the first one sent into the cage, then Cuerno grates his face against the wire and stomps Mundo into the cage. King Cuerno starts to climb the cage, but Mundo hits him across the back, meeting him on the top rope. They exchange punches but Cuerno brings himself down to the mat with a diving dragon screw to Mundo's leg. Cuerno kicks Mundo as he's trapped between the ropes and the cage but the running knees hit steel. Johnny Mundo hits a corkscrew elbow and leg drop for a nearfall. King Cuerno kicks at Mundo but runs into a hip toss, sending his back into the cage. Johnny Mundo sizes Cuerno up and hits a running knee strike for another close nearfall.

Johnny Mundo clubs at Cuerno's chest and sends his head into the cage. King Cuerno shakes it off and charges, ducking Mundo's springboard. Johnny Mundo counters a fireman's carry into one of his own and runs Cuerno into the cage. A rolling senton puts Cuerno on the mat and a standing shooting star press gets Mundo 2. He tries a different winning method, scaling the cage until Cuerno cuts him off. King Cuerno brings Mundo out of the corner in a powerbomb position, runs him into the cage before a sitout powerbomb for 2. King Cuerno runs at Mundo with a punt kick and he climbs the cage. Johnny Mundo grabs the boot and climbs to the top rope to meet Cuerno, King Cuerno kicks Mundo away and gets to the outside of the cage but Mundo has the mask! King Cuerno closes the distance, keeping his mask and straddles the top of the cage. He hits Mundo with a right and climbs in, standing on the top rope, where they battle with punches and kicks as it moves an alarming amount. They both fall to the mat for a double-down.

They start hitting again from their knees at about 8 and fight to their feet where Mundo gets a combination of forearms going. He sends King Cuerno into the cage, then again on the other side. The third attempt is countered, Cuerno keeps sending Mundo into the same side of the cage, which is clearly the superior of the strategies. King Cuerno hits a superkick and a clothesline but gets sent into the cage again and Mundo hits a knee to the gut but charges into a back elbow. King Cuerno unloads punches onto Mundo whilst he's on his knees. Johnny Mundo shoves Cuerno away and rebounds off the ropes to hit a spear for a nearfall. Johnny Mundo slowly climbs up the cage, but Cuerno cuts him off with a kick to the ankle and joins him on the top rope. Mundo hits a back elbow but Cuerno hits a loud chop. Vampiro asks for another and Cuerno obliges. Johnny Mundo sends Cuerno's head into the top of the cage and sends him down to the mat, Cuerno pretty much did a moonsault. Johnny Mundo climbs to the top of the cage and hits Starship Pain for the win.

WINNER: JOHNNY MUNDO

This was a good match, they hit some popular cage match spots and instead of having someone run away to win, Mundo gets a pop for his finisher. King Cuerno kept going to the leg and Mundo sold it throughout, they both got some decent offense in and they both came out of the match looking better for it. *** match 5.75/10
