Alberto El Patron makes his way to the ring for his
Lucha Underground debut match. He was the AAA Mega champion at this
point, having beaten his opponent tonight to win the championship. He
gets a video package to give a career retrospective. El Texano makes
his entrance as Matt Striker (on commentary with Vampiro as always mentions that he was not only the
youngest AAA Champion but the longest reigning, until Alberto El
Patron ended that reign.
EL TEXANO VS. ALBERTO EL PATRON
“A
War Started in Mexico” Aired: 5th March 2015
They lock up and work to the ropes, El
Texano gets the advantage in the corner and the referee makes them
break. As they lock back up El Texano gets a headlock but is sent off
the ropes. He knocks Alberto down with a shoulder block and spits on
him. Alberto goes prone and leapfrogs as El Texano runs the ropes,
getting caught in a hip toss. Alberto scrambles for a cover but
Texano gets out of the ring, trying to tempt Alberto out. Alberto El
Patron chases him around ringside and Texano cuts him off with stomps
as Alberto gets back into the ring. El Texano panders to the crowd
and hits Alberto with a back suplex, going back to gloating. Alberto
is sent from one corner to another but catches Texano with a back
elbow. Alberto El Patron comes out of the corner with a headscissors.
El Texano tries to take a breather in the corner but is met with a
step up roundhouse and mounted punches. Alberto snapmares him down
and hits a high-angle dropkick to the back of the head for a
nearfall.
El Texano gets whipped to the ropes but holds on,
kicking Alberto El Patron who ducked too early. Alberto El Patron
sends a charging El Texano over the top rope to the floor and dives
through the ropes, which Vampiro likens to his father and uncle in
Mexico. El Texano swings the momentum, sending Alberto into a
barricade and hitting a DDT on the floor. El Texano breaks the count
and posts El Patron as Vampiro mentions El Texano's AAA credentials
again and Striker politely says “yeah, but fuck that. Lucha
Underground!” El Texano breaks the count again but sends El Patron
back into the ring anyway, locking in a chinlock on the mat. The fans
will El Patron back to his feet and he uses lefts to get out of the
hold. El Texano sends Alberto into the corner but gets kicked in the
face as Vampiro mentions how important machismo is in society. Fuck
yeah, Vampiro!
Alberto El Patron dives from the middle
rope into a dropkick and El Texano covers for a nearfall. Alberto
rolls over, not just grabbing the rope but wrapping his arm around it
as the fans chant for the referee, Marty
Allias(?) El Texano grabs a standing armbar
but Alberto uses rights to break free, Striker calls it him an
egomaniac because he didn't get out by tripping the ankle and using
his amateur ability. El Texano rakes the eyes and sends El Patron's
shoulder into the ring post before pulling on the arm to hyper-extend
it. El Texano climbs to the top rope but gets tripped and Alberto El
Patron hits a superplex from the top rope leading to a double-down.
They're up at 5 and exchanging rights, El Texano cuts El Patron off
with a knee to the gut but runs into a clothesline. El Texano is
right back to his feet but another clothesline drops him again.
Alberto ducks El Texano's attempt and catches him in a tilt-a-whirl
backbreaker. Alberto El Patron brings El Texano to his feet but gets
kicked in the gut. El Texano runs to the ropes and into a back
stabber by Alberto, which gets El Patron a nearfall.
Alberto El Patron waits in the corner for El Texano to
get to his feet, but that gives him time to recover and he ducks the
superkick. El Texano hits a spinebuster but takes a second to
celebrate so he only gets a 2 count. El Texano sits El Patron on the
top rope, struggling to move his leg around the rope and clubs him
across the back of the neck, setting him up for a stiff kick. El
Texano removes the turnbuckle pad so the referee has to go replace
it. El Texano uses the distraction to wrap his bullrope around his
fist and repeatedly hit Alberto El Patron with it. El Texano hits a
loud overhand chop but Alberto El Patron fights out of the superplex
attempt and hits the double stomp on El Texano, who conveniently
ended up in position to take it. Alberto El Patron is fired up,
attempting the rolling armbar but El Texano spins out and hits a
sitout powerbomb for a close nearfall. El Patron kicked out at 2.999.
Alberto El Patron plays possum as El Texano brings him to his feet
and catches the cowboy with a jumping armbreaker for a nearfall of
his own. Alberto El Patron blocks another bullrope assisted shot and
hits a tornado DDT out of the corner. He grabs El Texano's bullrope
and whips him with is forcing the referee to throw the match out.
WINNER: EL TEXANO
(DISQUALIFICATION)
This was a good enough match, they work well together
and I can see this becoming a feud over the coming weeks. Alberto El
Patron looked good in his debut and they work well together. They
didn't really get out of second gear and the finish wasn't ideal but
it made sense with the circumstances. Neither guy really got too much
momentum at one time and Alberto's emotions cost him the match, but
on the bright side he stood tall at the end. Rating this match I'd
give it **½ but personally it's difficult to go over 2/5 for me.
After the match the fans count along as Alberto El
Patron continues whipping El Texano with the bullrope and celebrates
for the fans
