King Cuerno makes his way to the
ring. Vampiro and Matt Striker on commentary talking about his headdress, trying to guess the reason he places it on the corner post. I
mean, it keeps it out of the way and in a safe place I guess, but
they go along the lines of it being like an altar for Cuerno. Johnny Mundo makes his way down to the ring and there's a tense staredown
between the two before Mundo is even on the apron.
KING
CUERNO VS. JOHNNY MUNDO
“Caged
Animals” Aired: 25th February 2015 )
Johnny Mundo
charges at Cuerno in the corner to start, but Cuerno strafes out of
the way, hitting Mundo with a jumping forearm on the return trip.
Johnny Mundo lifts King Cuerno and slams him to the mat, mounting for
some ground and pound. Cuerno shoves Mundo off but Mundo runs into
him with a knee strike. Mundo covers for a quick nearfall and goes
back to the striking on the mat. King Cuerno crawls away so Mundo
grabs the ankle. King Cuerno kicks the injured knee and goes to the
apron, blocking a forearm and kicking Mundo in the head. King Cuerno
tries to springboard back in the ring but gets caught with a
superkick, King Cuerno lands on his feet but Mundo dives over the top
rope with a double side flip, taking him out. Johnny Mundo takes it
back to the ring and knocks Cuerno down with clotheslines. King
Cuerno catches a kick attempt and drops Mundo across his knee with a
back breaker. King Cuerno hits the ropes and hits a leg drop on Mundo
for a nearfall, complaining that the ref counted too slow.
King Cuerno sends
Johnny Mundo off the ropes and cuts him down with a dropkick to the
injured knee. Cuerno works the knee on the mat and takes Mundo over
to what Striker decides to call the `Sacred Corner' with his
headpiece. Mundo is sent across the ring, Cuerno immediately follows
with a double knee strike. King Cuerno hits Mundo with a right hand,
but Mundo fires back, getting some good shots in and he spears King
Cuerno for a nearfall. King Cuerno sends Mundo into the ropes to
avoid a Moonlight Drive and flips over Mundo to get him into an arm
wringer and drop him to mat. I'm sure there's a simpler way to do
that. Johnny Mundo counters the armbar, shoving Cuerno into the ropes
and hitting him with a forearm. Mundo sends Cuerno into the
turnbuckle. King Cuerno ducks a springboard kick but Mundo counters
the Thrill of the Hunt, King Cuerno rolls Mundo up for 2.
King Cuerno gets
to his feet in the corner, Mundo charges but eats the turnbuckle.
Johnny Mundo reverses and irish whip but gets sent over to the apron.
Johnny Mundo hits a springboard flying knee and follows with a weird
corkscrew splash, cipping his knee on the bottom rope. Johnny Mundo
hits the Moonlight Drive leaving Cuerno in position, but Cuerno was
playing possum, kicking Mundo in the knee as he jumped to the top
rope and sending him crashing to the floor. King Cuerno dives through
the ropes at Mundo, sending him into the guard rail as the fans chant
“Lucha!” Johnny Mundo takes a walk around the Temple, trying to
shake off the pain in his knee and now back as Cuerno gets back in
the ring. King Cuerno dives through the ropes again, this time
sending Mundo into the announce table and knocking Vampiro's headset
off. The referee takes his time counting them down, no one wants to
see a draw here. King Cuerno signals with the bow and arrow before a
third Arrow of Death takes Mundo out on the floor. King Cuerno is
slow to his feet, watching the referee count, then turning around to
stare Mundo out as this reaches a double count out.
MATCH ENDS AS A DOUBLE COUNT OUT
What really annoyed me was the
non-finish a minute after I said that no one wanted a draw. The post
match brawl was a very good ending but it seemed like Mundo forgot
about his knee at times. It was also telegraphed a lot on commentary,
with talk of the Temple being used as a weapon. There were some scary
points, Mundo's side flip and dive through the corner almost hit
rope, which could have been really bad with Mundo's acceleration and
the match itself seemed like they were filling time until the draw at
some points. I want to see more of this match but I want a finish.
WORKRATE: 2.5/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 3.75/5 OVERALL:

up the stairs and they continue to brawl. King Cuerno sends Mundo
into the post at the top of the stairs and decks the referee. King

tries to force him over the railing above commentary. They fight
