DRAGO VS. AEROSTAR (2)

I had to take a break after those two matches. I couldn't help myself, they were too terrible. Luckily today didn't have much significance in history I could really find (beyond searching for Stu Hart tapes or trying to justify using it for Bret or Owen instead.) It worked, too! I re-found Lucha Underground so for the Bank Holiday weekend here in England I'll get through the next episode.

Vampiro welcomes us back to The Temple with Matt StrikerAerostar gets introduced already in the ring, then Drago makes his way down. Drago won their match last week (here) but Aerostar earned his respect which pushed him to ask for this rematch to find out if he can beat Drago.

DRAGO VS. AEROSTAR
Caged Animals” Aired: 25th February 2015 )

They shake hands as the bell rings, Aerostar checks a kick and runs off the ropes, taking Drago down with a headscissors. Drago slips out of the ring so Aerostar picks up speed, springboarding on the middle rope out to Drago on the floor with a plancha! Aerostar gets back into the ring but he's favouring his ankle. I thought he slipped slightly on the rope. Drago shoulder blocks through the ropes, coming in with a sunset flip but Aerostar rolls through but Drago rolls him up for a nearfall. More running as Aerostar ducks a clothesline, he baseball slides but Drago moves and dodges a kick attempt and springboards off the middle rope with a DDT. Aerostar stuns Drago with a forearm and runs off the ropes but gets caught on Drago's shoulder. Drago drops Aerostar to the mat with a facebuster. Aerostar ducks the roundhouse but not a heel kick and Drago gets another nearfall. Drago sends Aerostar into the turnbuckle but runs into a somersault heel kick! Aerostar can't capitalize though, getting sent into the opposite corner. Aerostar moves out of the way of a charge, sending Drago into the middle turnbuckle. Drago reverses an irish whip, but Aerostar climbs to the middle rope and knocks Drago down with a missile dropkick, Aerostar covers but Drago kicks out at 2.

Drago is sent into the ropes, rolling over Aerostar's back, he kicks Aerostar out of the ring. Drago follows with a running swan dive senton over the top rope, They both get on the ring apron, Aerostar stuns Drago and runs to the corner, Drago chases him and posts himself. Aerostar dives through the ropes, but it looks like he catches the rope and almost falls short. They make it back to the ring, Aerostar charges Drago in the corner but is placed on the middle rope. Drago sends him across the ring with a Japanese arm drag! Aerostar counters the Dragons' Lair into a roll-up for a nearfall in a nice sequence. Drago rolls Aerostar up again but breaks it to bridge back on a better pin for a nearfall. Drago charges across the ring but is sent over to the apron. Aerostar climbs over the shoulder block and sends Drago to the floor with a sunset flip powerbomb! Aerostar takes it back into the ring and hits a springboard plancha to win the match.

WINNER: AEROSTAR

Aerostar had a couple of “Lucha slip-ups” where he couldn't quite get the footing, or it just didn't go crisp. That always takes me out for a second, looking for any legitimate injuries. Besides that, it was a good match between the two, with some excellent Lucha spots. WORKRATE: 2.75/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 3.5/5 OVERALL: 6.25/10

After the match Aerostar helps Drago to his feet, returning the sign of respect shown. This brings Dario Cueto out of his office. He says he has enjoyed the matches between these guys, which is relayed by the crowd. Cueto says since they're a match apiece, he's making a best of 5 series between the two, with the winner receiving one of his “Unique Opportunities” this seems to up the tension between Drago and Aerostar.
