Cage is shown in the
ring as we return to The Temple before Prince Puma returns after a
month. He is the Lucha Underground champion, but Brian Cage has
possession of the belt. Both halves, after he ripped it. Puma races
down the stairs and jumpstarts the match with right hands. Vampiro and Matt Striker are on commentary.
CAGE VS. PRINCE PUMA
Cage shoves Prince Puma off with ease as the lights
turn back on. Prince Puma tries to fight through a knee to the gut
and clubbing blows so Cage throws him aside. Matt Striker mentions
that Konnan is also missing, due to Cage attacking him and taking him
out. Puma takes futile shots as he's forced into the turnbuckle, then
we inexplicably go to a crowd shot. Prince Puma magics out of the
corner and hits a discus forearm to Cage. Vampiro says he'll need to
follow up but he doesn't. Puma ducks a clothesline and comes off the
ropes. He tries a headscissors but it's fluffed. The more they try
and save it the worse it looks. Cage sends Prince Puma over to the
apron, Puma kicks him in the head and tries to get back in the ring.
Cage sends Prince Puma to the floor with a sick lariat! Prince Puma
makes it up to the apron, but Cage climbs onto the middle rope to
meet him. Cage brings Puma up to his feet and superplexes him in the
ring. Cage covers 1, 2, Puma kicks out.
Cage lifts Prince Puma for a delayed vertical suplex
but Puma is able to land on his feet, Cage catches a springboard
crossbody from the middle rope. Cage starts doing exercises with
Prince Puma before dropping him to the mat. Cage kicks Puma in the
ribs and chokes him over the bottom rope. Prince Puma gets some
seconds of respite as the referee has words but it isn't enough. Cage
cranks at the champion's neck on the mat until Puma counters with a
jawbreaker. Prince Puma slaps Cage but his kick is caught. Cage ducks
an enziguri and wheelbarrow suplexes Prince Puma. Cage stalks at
Prince Puma gets to his feet. He runs into a back elbow, Prince Puma
gets the boot up and runs out of the corner but gets caught in a snap
powerslam. Cage springboards off the middle rope in the corner with a
moonsault but Puma rolls out of the way! Prince Puma runs into a
brick wall with a clothesline attempt but knocks Cage out of the ring
with an enziguri, Prince Puma climbs up the turnbuckles, hitting a
shooting star press on Cage on the floor!!
Prince Puma sends Cage back into the ring and climbs
to the apron. He hits a springboard 450 splash and covers 1, 2, Cage
kicks out. Prince Puma tries to lift Cage, but it's blocked with
elbows. Puma shoves Cage off and knocks him back, this time able to
pick him up. He drops Cage back to his feet but Cage blocks the kick,
knocking it so hard Puma faceplants. Cage deadlifts Puma in a
gutwrench, carrying him around before hoisting him to his shoulders.
Puma counters into a hurricanaranna, getting a close nearfall. Cage
runs into a superkick, which seems to hype him up. He walks into a
roundhouse and drops to the mat. Prince Puma climbs to the rope but
the twisting 450 misses! Cage stalks Puma to his feet and takes his
head off with a lariat! Cage covers 1, 2, no! The fans chant “that
was three!” it was that close. Cage hits a pumphandle facebuster
for another nearfall. Cage locks in the stretch muffler as Vampiro
notices Konnan making his way through the crowd. Puma makes it to the
ropes and breaks the hold. Cage powerbombs Prince Puma on the mat,
lifting him into a buckle bomb then hits the Weapon X! Konnan has to
look away and instead of pinning him. Cage goes to work with ground
n' pound on Prince Puma which forces Konnan to throw in the towel.
WINNER: CAGE
This
match worked well. Prince Puma looked resilient and got a lot of good
work in, Cage looked like the monster he should have and was able to
win a chance at the championship and cause tension in the camp.
Hopefully, match #3 will have a real ending, but this has helped me
want to see it. WORKRATE:

After the match Cage lays the towel over Prince Puma's
face. We see Konnan and Puma backstage. Konnan says he did Prince
Puma a favour, now they can put their plan into fruition
