Mr. McMahon decided he had issues with Shawn Michaels, putting him in a match with Shelton Benjamin, where if Michaels lost he couldn't enter the Royal Rumble match. Shane McMahon then interfered to eliminate Shawn Michaels from the aforementioned match and beat him (with a Montreal Screwjob repeat, of course) at Saturday Night's Main Event, the return for the Television Special, in a Street Fight. Also included was a handicap steel cage match and a public drug test after being spiked by Stephanie McMahon (kinda hard to ignore that plothole if I'm honest). Also the all-time great line “it's better to be pissed off, than pissed on!” Good Ol' JR and Jerry "The King" Lawler are on commentary for this match. The video package focuses on Mr. McMahon screwing anyone and everyone over to run his company how he wants and Michaels' attempt to stand up to it. Shawn enters first, showing the effects of being on Mr. McMahon's bad side.JR compliments McMahon's physique through gritted teeth as the Chairman enters the match. Mr. McMahon shows off a Muscle & Fitness magazine cover he's on, drawing Michaels out of the ring to start the match.
MR. McMAHON VS. SHAWN MICHAELS (No Holds Barred)
WWE Wrestlemania 22 (2nd April 2006)
Shawn Michaels unloads on Vince with right hands, backing him against the ring and switching to chops and bouncing McMahon's head off the announce table. HBK hits a couple more chops and sends McMahon into JR's lap, which doesn't please the recently-returned commentator. McMahon eats some right hands and Michaels chokes him with a wire from one of the headsets. The fans chant “we want Bret” as he was inducted into the Hall of Fame the previous night. Shawn Michaels hits McMahon with a microphone and sends him into the ring, following with the magazine cover. He crowns McMahon with it and taunts him, drawing the Spirit Squad out for an ambush. They hit the five-man flapjack but Michaels rolls out of the way of Kenny's leg drop. Shawn Michaels ducks a Megaphone shot and clears the ring, sans Kenny Dykstra who is sent over the top rope onto his buddies. Shawn Michaels spits onto the Spirit Squad and turns around into a standing clothesline from Mr. McMahon, who's cut above his eye.
Mr. McMahon hits Michaels with a right hand, backing him into the corner and drives his knee into Michaels' ribs. McMahon starts ramming his shoulder into Michaels in the corner as the fans call him an asshole. You already bought the tickets, who cares? Mr. McMahon ignores the opinions and begins choking Michaels, who quickly begins to fade. Mr. McMahon sends Michaels across the ring and removes his belt, whipping Michaels across the back, Mr. McMahon begins choking Michaels with his belt but `Fan Magic' helps Michaels to his feet. Shawn Michaels breaks free with right hands. Michaels gets some separation with a chop but runs off the ropes into a clothesline with the belt. Mr. McMahon looks to be mocking Bret Hart but uses it to set up a Sweet Chin Music attempt. Shawn Michaels catches McMahon's foot and backs him into the ropes with right hands and chops. Mr. McMahon reverses an irish whip but Michaels catches him with the running forearm.
Shawn Michaels kips up and grabs the belt, whipping McMahon over the back with it as JR eggs him on from commentary. Shawn Michaels chops McMahon across the chest with the belt and slams him in position for the elbow drop, which connects. Shawn Michaels sets up for the Sweet Chin Music but Shane McMahon gets on the apron, hitting Michaels with a kendo stick! Shane McMahon gets in the ring, pulling out handcuffs which then leads to Mr. McMahon dropping his trousers. Shane McMahon grabs Shawn Michaels but at the last second Michaels reverses the momentum and forces Shane to kiss Mr. McMahon's ass. That sequence got one hell of a reaction, but written in front of me it's just plain weird. Vince McMahon realizes the wrong man joined the “Kiss My Ass Club” and Michaels hits a low blow. Shawn Michaels clotheslines Shane McMahon over the top rope to the floor and he took it pretty full-on. Shawn Michaels handcuffs Shane McMahon to the middle rope on the floor.
Shane O'Mac has the key, but Shawn Michaels notices and quickly rectifies that, throwing it into the crowd. Shawn Michaels mocks Shane's dance and lays into him with the kendo stick. I counted 6 shots. Shawn Michaels brings a chair into the ring, implanting it into Mr. McMahon's skull. Shawn Michaels sets up for the Sweet Chin Music but hesitates instead, bringing a ladder into the ring and ramming it into his boss' head. Shawn Michaels refuses to hit the Sweet Chin Music again, bringing trash cans and a table into the ring. Shane McMahon shouts on some futile encouragement from ringside as Michaels reshapes a trash can around Vince's skull. Michaels is really wasteful with weapons here, throwing them away after one hit. Shawn Michaels sets the table up and lays Vince across it. He sets up the ladder in the corner and climbs to the top but decides not to throw himself onto Mr. McMahon. He gets another shot in at Shane on the floor and drags out a bigger ladder. I mean BIGGER LADDER.
In his " HEARTBRTEAK AND TRIUMPH” DVD Shawn Michaels actually speaks about the ladder being taller than the one he had wanted to use, but once it was out for the crowd he couldn't back down. He sets the new ladder up and places a trash can over McMahon's head so he doesn't have to see Michaels drop from about halfway up the bleachers. Shawn Michaels hits a 20-foot elbow drop on Mr. McMahon through the table and the medical staff come out to ringside. Shawn Michaels starts moving, dumping the ladder outside and kicking the medics away. Shawn Michaels tells McMahon he'll knock his teeth down his throat and does with the Superkick to win the match.
WINNER: SHAWN MICHAELS
This was a Mr. McMahon match with a Shawn Michaels crowd, Vince McMahon got some heat for doing the bare minimum, he didn't come into the match alone and he even got to whip his opponent with his belt. Not to be selfish he also took an immense amount of punishment, the chairshot alone made me cringe along with the thought of McMahon being blinded by the trash can as Michaels climbed and elbow dropped from the ladder.– WORKRATE: 2/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 4.25/5 OVERALL 6.25/10
Mr. McMahon is rolled onto a stretcher as we see highlights of the match, he flips the bird as they take him through the curtain.
