KEN SHAMROCK VS. STEVE BLACKMAN

Today marks the 55^th birthday of Steve Blackman. Blackman was known for two things. Being a bad motherfucker and being a regular in the WWF Hardcore championship division. I decided to pick a match showing the first one today. He returned last month attacking Ken Shamrock. He also attacked Shamrock on Heat before the King of the Ring tournament. Shamrock faced Billy Gunn in the semi-final but the referee stopped the match due to the injuries he'd previously sustained. The next night on Raw they also had a weapons match, further hurting Shamrock in the run-up to tonight. The wrestlers have parked cars in a circle which will be Shamrock and Blackman's fighting arena in the parking lot. The first man to leave the circle wins. Ken Shamrock scares referee Teddy Long out of the circle before we start.

STEVE BLACKMAN VS. KEN SHAMROCK

(Iron Circle match)

WWF Fully Loaded 1999 (25^th July 1999)

  They circle and Ken Shamrock charges, throwing Blackman onto the bonnet of a car and hitting him with right hands. Blackman is sent onto another car, into the windshield. Ken Shamrock breaks the windshield with his hand as Blackman rolls to the floor.

  Steve Blackman's foot crashes through a car window as Shamrock dodges, allowing Shamrock to take it back into the circle. Ken Shamrock gets dumped onto a bonnet and Blackman just straight low-blows him because he can. Steve Blackman sends Shamrock into another car and leaves the circle for a weapon, so that doesn't count as winning? Do they have a mark they have to pass? Ken Shamrock rolls out of the way of a chain shot and fights back, throwing Blackman onto a car. Ken Shamrock climbs on the bonnet and throws Blackman's head into the windshield. Steve Blackman fights back, throwing Shamrock onto a car after slamming him on the concrete. Ken Shamrock slides from the car to the floor. Steve Blackman grabs a tire iron from inside the car but Shamrock moves, sending it through the windshield. Ken Shamrock fights back but puts his fist through a window. Ken Shamrock grabs a trash can, hitting Blackman's skull and bringing him back into the circle.

  Ken Shamrock hits Blackman with another trashcan shot and wraps the chain around his hand. Ken Shamrock hits Blackman with chain-assisted right hands and chokes him out. The bell rings to signal Ken Shamrock's victory.

WINNER: KEN SHAMROCK

There isn't much to say about this match, it was a street fight and the gimmick limited them. It was fun enough but it just seemed out of place. – WORKRATE: 1/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 2.75/5 OVERALL 3.75/10
