SASHA BANKS (C) VS. BAYLEY

  Stephanie McMahon Helmsley is out to introduce our first women's main event in NXT TakeOver history. The video package shows Bayley as the ultimate underdog. She worked her way back up to this championship match and has added some fire, showing she wants the title from Sasha Banks. Bayley enters the match first, the crowd look excited to see her, but the reaction doesn't sound the same in the bigger setting. Bayley is paying homage to “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes with her headband and wrist tape tonight. Sasha Banks makes her entrance to the ramp in an Escalade with personal security, because why not? They hold the ropes open for Banks as commentary talk up the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. If they're staying at ringside then someone bigger than me needs to see their managers' licenses!

NXT TAKEOVER: BROOKLYN (22^nd August 2015)

  We get in-ring introductions for the big occasion. Sasha Banks looks confident, statistically, I can't say I blame her. Sasha Banks calls Bayley pathetic, pretty much refusing the match and pissing Bayley off. Bayley takes Banks down and they trade punches rolling on the mat. Bayley gets some elbow offence, really hammering this Dusty Rhodes thing into us good and proper. Bayley covers but only gets one. Sasha Banks sends Bayley's head into the turnbuckle, firing her up. Bayley turns it around with underdog fire bashing Banks' head into the turnbuckle as a receipt. Bayley hangs Banks in the Tree of Woe and gets a run up for a springboard elbow drop, covering for 1. Sasha Banks rolls Bayley up for 1 and sends her into the corner as the fans chant arguing over Sasha. Sasha Banks runs into a back elbow and Bayley hits her with a back elbow from the middle rope, Sasha Banks rolls out of the ring to put her thinking cap on. Bayley waits for the champion to turn around and sneaks out to ringside and blindsides her with a dropkick through the corner. Bayley takes it back into the ring but Banks cuts her off with a knee to the gut. Sasha sets Bayley up for the knees in the corner but Bayley slides out of the way and they exchange forearms over the top rope. Banks and Bayley fight to the top turnbuckle but Banks drops down to the ring, kicking Bayley's knee from underneath her and causing her to fall to the arena floor.

  Sasha Banks teases a dive but turns her back on Bayley, allowing her back into the ring. Bayley attacks Sasha but Banks is able to keep control, clubbing down on Bayley. Banks brings Bayley to her knees by the hair and drops her elbow to the top of Bayley's head. Sasha Banks hits a running elbow to the back of a seated Bayley, then slaps her across the face. Sasha Banks covers but Bayley kicks out at just after 2. Bayley tries to fight from the bottom but Banks cranks her neck on the apron, driving her knee into Bayley's back for punctuation. Sasha Banks struggles for a straightjacket hold around Bayley's neck but does get it. Bayley struggles to her feet but gets sent into the corner. Banks sends her into the corner again as commentary reiterate that Bayley is always the bridesmaid and never the bride. Bayley blocks Sasha's strikes, replying with one of her own each time. Sasha Banks grabs Bayley's legs and sets her up for the knees again but Bayley lands on her feet, Banks blocks her way into the top turnbuckle and grabs Bayley with her ankles, pulling her into the corner. Corey Graves tries to explain that life isn't fair to Saxton as Banks beats on Bayley in the corner. She lays Bayley across the top of the corner and hits the double knee from the turnbuckle! Sasha Banks covers Bayley but she still kicks out at 2!

  Sasha Banks talks trash to Bayley in the corner, until Bayley boots her away, Banks turns around and gets sent into the middle turnbuckle. Banks runs into a drop toe hold and Bayley lays in right hands to her on the mat. Bayley sends Banks into the ropes, but she grabs the top rope to stop the momentum. Bayley gets overexcited and charges, Banks low-bridges her sending her to the outside, but keeps hold of the hair to keep Bayley on the apron. Banks drops Bayley's arm across the middle rope and takes off her wrist brace on the floor. Sasha attacks Bayley's hand, slamming it on the ring steps and crushing it between the steps and the LED board. The referee checks on Bayley from the ring so Sasha Banks can fly over him with a somersault plancha! Sasha Banks takes it back into the ring and covers Bayley, but only gets 2. Sasha Banks links hands with Bayley as they get to their feet, wanting her assistance for a Lucha style arm drag, Bayley decides she doesn't want to and shoves Banks down into the barricade on the floor.

  Sasha Banks beats the count out, getting in at 8, they exchange strikes as they both stand up, Bayley knocks Banks down with double axe handle strikes, but it's coming at a cost each time. Bayley hits a running shoulder tackle in the corner and a running hip attack to follow. Bayley lifts Sasha Banks and sends her into the turnbuckles with a suplex. Sasha Banks drops to her knees to block the Bayley to belly, but gets caught in a waistlock, Bayley rolls Sasha up but Banks rolls through to her feet and goes back to Bayley's injured hand and locking in the Banks Statement! Bayley crawls towards the ropes but Banks stomps on her hand! Bayley reaches with her other arm, barely touching the rope before Banks rolls it back through, Bayley reverses into one of her own! Sasha Banks reaches her leg out and gets to the bottom rope to break the hold. BAYLEY TO BELLY! 1, 2, NO! When she gets over her shock Bayley drags Banks' dead weight over to the corner and places her on the top rope, Sasha Banks fights her off but is hit with a sudden forearm by Bayley. Bayley climbs back to the top rope looking for a hurricanrana but Banks shoves her to the mat again. Banks hits a knee drop from the middle rope and hooks Bayley's legs 1, 2, 2.5 Bayley kicks out again! Sasha Banks takes Bayley over to the corner as the crowd trade chants for each woman. Bayley fights back from the top rope and they fight on the ropes, Bayley knocks Sasha to the mat this time, Sasha climbs back up into an ambush of elbows by Bayley who spikes her with a SUPER REVERSE RANA! Bayley to belly connects and Bayley wins the championship!

WINNER: BAYLEY (NEW NXT Women's Champion)

I have heard nothing but good about this match, it lived up to expectations. They really made this match feel like it meant even more than the TakeOver matches at Full Sail, Banks' entrance kicked it off nicely and it was her underestimation of Bayley that cost her the match, Bayley was able to push further than Banks thought she would. A couple of bits looked rough and the Bayley to belly was overkill in my opinion, but they are the only true negatives. WORKRATE: 3/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 3.5/5 OVERALL: 6.5/10
