Due to real life commitments, I've not been able to get the last couple of posts up I can only apologise to my reader and get back into it, so here we go.
Melissa Santos is in the ring ready to introduce the main event. Johnny Mundo enters first, he's been an early highlight of Lucha Underground but hasn't been seen since Aztec Warfare, he wants to win Prince Puma's championship and thinks he deserves a shot but he has to get through Cage first. Both Cage and the championship belt enter next, he has the torn remains draped over his shoulders. They stand in the ring and wait patiently for our final commercial break, where Vampiro and Matt Striker are on commentary for this match.
MATCH 4: CAGE VS. JOHNNY MUNDO
The bell rings as we return, Mundo quickly gets behind Cage, with a standing side headlock, Cage lifts Mundo up but he lands on his feet going back to the headlock. Cage sends Mundo into the ropes, a hip toss on Mundo ends with a backbreaker by Cage. Cage hits European uppercuts to Mundo and sends him across the ring, Johnny Mundo lands on his feet from a backdrop attempt as Vampiro says he's being made to look like a bitch. Is he watching the same match? A corkscrew kick to Cage gets Mundo a nearfall. Johnny Mundo stays on Cage, tripping the ankle and diving on him with ground and pound. Cage shoves Mundo off, finding some space in the corner. Johnny Mundo runs at Cage and catches his boots, Cage's legs get sent out of the ring and Mundo kicks Cage's chest. Cage rolls out of the ring completely shocked how this is turning out. Cage sees Mundo and avoids an attack from the apron, dragging Mundo to the floor by his ankle, no Mundo holds on but ends up on Cage's shoulders. Cage sends Mundo into the ring post from a powerbomb position! Cage sends Johnny Mundo back into the ring, mounting him with right hands instead of covering because he's a machine.
King Cuerno is seen watching the match as Cage flattens Johnny Mundo with a short arm clothesline for a nearfall. Johnny Mundo fights to his feet with right hands but Cage catches him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, into a second one for 2. Cage has his lip busted open from Mundo's kicks (Striker got in a Tony Atlas joke, just to acknowledge it) Cage slams Mundo down near the corner and climbs to the second rope, Cage jumps to the top and dives off with a moonsault in one motion but Mundo rolled out of the way! When they get to their feet Johnny Mundo hits rights, Cage shoves him into the ropes but Mundo uses the momentum for a jumping forearm. Johnny Mundo's clothesline does nothing to Cage so he gets a run-up, Cage follows but Mundo hits a spinning calf kick on Cage to knock him down. Johnny Mundo kind of hits a running knee strike and covers for 2. Cage avoids a Moonlight Drive, lifting Mundo into a fireman's carry but is dropped with an inverted DDT. Johnny Mundo covers for a nearfall.
Johnny Mundo keeps on the attack as Vampiro says it takes more than that to beat a machine, Cage catches Mundo in the corner and carries him to the middle of the ring for a sitout Alabama Slam. Cage holds Mundo's shoulders down but only gets 2. Johnny Mundo stops himself going anywhere on an irish whip and they avoid each other until Mundo springs back from the middle rope with a kick. Mundo covers for a nearfall. He rolls Cage towards the corner for End of the World but Cage rolls out of the ring, Mundo lands back on his feet in the ring, Johnny Mundo backs up as Cage is beside the announce table. Johnny Mundo dives over the ring post with a corkscrew plancha! Vampiro tries to get a “that was awesome” chant going, but the fans prefer “Lucha” as King Cuerno is spotted at the top of the stairs. He stalks his way down (with a spotlight, no less.) to ringside as Mundo sends Cage back inside. Johnny Mundo makes it to his feet on the apron but gets tripped by Cuerno for the disqualification
WINNER: JOHNNY MUNDO
I can see a common theme with how they're using Cage. He beat a load of lighter guys to start and beat up the champion along with another big star. Johnny Mundo got in a hard-fought match like Puma did last week, but didn't truly beat Cage. King Cuerno got involved for reasons unknown, is this meaning a Cuerno/Cage vs. Puma/Mundo match? King Cuerno clotheslines Mundo down to the floor and stomps on him. Johnny Mundo gets sent into the ring post before King Cuerno swings a chair at Mundo's leg. Dario Cueto appears from his office, stopping Cage in his tracks. He tells Mundo that he can't let the match end that way and restarts it.
MATCH 4: CAGE VS. JOHNNY MUNDO (Restarted)
Cage goes back to the ring, teasing shooting for Mundo's leg. Cage tackles Mundo but Mundo isn't going down without a fight, Cage slams him into the mat out of the corner. Cage drives his elbow into Mundo's now tender leg on the mat. Mundo uses the ropes to get to his feet but gets his leg kicked out from under him. Cage follows Mundo out to the apron, Mundo kicks at Cage with his good leg, but his bad leg can't take the impact. A forearm has no effect on Cage so he drops from the apron as Mundo swings his hurt leg into the ring post. Cage follows Mundo back between the ropes again, wrapping Mundo's knee around his neck, Johnny Mundo reaches the bottom rope but Cage holds on for every second he can. Johnny Mundo swings his good leg back into Cage, sending him back into the corner. Mundo gets a flurry of offense in the corner with forearms and hits a Moonlight Drive. Johnny Mundo can't get enough on the cover so Cage kicks out. Johnny Mundo wants the End of the World to come, but Cage trips him off the middle rope, Cage carries Mundo around before hitting the F-5 and covers, 1, 2, no! Cage brings Mundo to his feet in frustration, Mundo counters the Gory special into a sunset flip for a close nearfall! Cage hits a discus clothesline and Mundo still kicks out, so Cage hits the Gory special into a flatliner. Cage covers for his first singles win.
WINNER: CAGE
Scratch that. The second half of this was a completely different story. Johnny Mundo struggled with Cage when he had 2 legs when he only had 1 he had to fight to get anything together. Cage toyed with Mundo's injury before deciding it was diminishing returns and just brutalizing him. Cage got a big win in the middle of the ring, with Dario Cueto orchestrating Johnny Mundo getting shoved down the pecking order in Lucha Underground. I'm interested to see how it turns out.
