KING CUERNO VS. DRAGO

King Cuerno enters first and Matt Striker reminds us on commentary that their last match (reviewed here) ended in a no contest, resulting in the stipulation. Drago makes his way to the ring as Vampiro comments that “InfaMundo” where Drago is billed from, translates to The Underworld.

MATCH 4: KING CUERNO VS. DRAGO (Last Luchadore Standing match)

Drago bats off a dropkick and hits a step-up enziguri. Drago picks up speed running the ropes as Striker says he's the faster of the two. Drago hits a dropkick to Cuerno, sending him outside. Drago follows with a running somersault plancha over the top rope! King Cuerno seemed to have knocked his head on the floor, so Drago gives the referee the OK to count Cuerno down and gets back in the ring. The referee gets to 8, but Cuerno was easily up at 7. Drago kicks him in the face before he can get in the ring. A second kick drops Cuerno, Drago lifts the dead weight, using the top rope to hang Cuerno dropping him on his head for another count. Cuerno takes a different route, sliding out of the ring to his feet at 6. Drago climbs out to the apron, playing right into King Cuerno's hands. He does so literally getting caught on a seated plancha! King Cuerno hits a running sitout powerbomb on the floor so the referee starts the count.

I don't know what this referee's smoking but he just counts for fun as Drago's on his feet, looking just as steady as Cuerno does, who's leaning on the ring for support. King Cuerno “interrupts the count” booting Drago in the ribs. With no irony, Vampiro mentions the timing of these two. The fans start chanting for Drago as he is thrown in the ring. King Cuerno drops Drago on his head with a pair of german suplexes, switching holds for a brainbuster for an exclamation point. Drago starts rising again so Cuerno interrupts the count with a boot to the face. King Cuerno chops Drago against the ropes, Vampiro puts it over as Striker tries to fuck it off. King Cuerno sends Drago across the ring but Drago comes back with a flipping blockbuster. The referee begins his count with both Luchadores down. It's neck and neck as they get to their feet. Drago strikes first with a spinning back kick followed by thrust kicks to the gut. Drago runs the ropes so King Cuerno drops the referee in the way, stopping Drago in his tracks. Drago goes again, using the referee to step up into a headscissors takedown. King Cuerno rolls out to the apron, using the ropes to get to his feet. Drago takes flight again, leaping over the ropes to send King Cuerno to the floor!

Again both Luchadores are down, the referee counts to a chorus of “holy shit” chants. Drago gets to his feet by 5, sliding back into the ring. King Cuerno is standing at 8, breaking the count. The referee starts counting Drago down in the ring as Cuerno slides back in as Drago gets to his feet at 3. Cuerno blocks a kick and lands one of his own. King Cuerno interrupts the referee's count with a leg drop across Drago's back. Drago starts stirring at 5 so King Cuerno goes back on the attack, wanting to make sure Drago's going to stay down. King Cuerno stomps on Drago near the ropes. Drago counters an irish whip, breaking Cuerno's grip. Cuerno boots Drago into the ropes and dropkicks him through the ropes. King Cuerno follows Drago through the ropes with The Arrow from Hell! The referee counts them both down, but Cuerno gets to his feet at 2. He finds a table under the ring as Matt Striker mentions last time bit him in the ass. Drago cuts King Cuerno off with a flurry of strikes but Cuerno blocks a spinning back chop. Drago eats an overhand chop to the chest before King Cuerno repeatedly posts his skull before placing him on the table.

King Cuerno takes his time, as Drago probably doesn't know who or where he even is. Cuerno climbs up to the top rope in the middle of the apron but Drago trips him, maybe not as dazed as it seemed. King Cuerno lands on his back in the ring, but easily beats the count at 3. King Cuerno and Drago meet on the apron. Drago hits forearms and sets King Cuerno up for a Spanish Fly, positioned near the table. Cuerno's arm is hooked under the top rope, blocking the move. King Cuerno fights for the advantage with elbows and sends Drago through the table with Thrill of the Hunt! The fans rightfully chant “holy shit” for that move before trying to will Drago back to his feet. King Cuerno breaks the count again with a kick to the ribs as Drago was stirring at 8. Drago is thrown into the ring and brought to his feet. A standing dropkick by Cuerno slumps Drago into the corner. King Cuerno crosses the ring to hit a running dropkick in the corner and grabs some rope. Matt Striker likens it to the Greg Valentine vs. Roddy Piper dog collar match at Starrcade 1983 as King Cuerno ties Drago to the ring post. Telling the referee it's no disqualification as he does so. King Cuerno hits a standing enziguri to the back of Drago's shoulders as he's helpless in the corner. The referee counts Drago down and of course, it's impossible to break it in his position.

WINNER: King Cuerno

I was almost enjoying this match, the counts reaching 6 from the beginning kind of irked me but it was there to show the intensity of the match, so it had a purpose. I bit on the Thrill of the Hunt off the apron being the finish and I wish it was. King Cuerno having to tie Drago down was cheap, not giving us the conclusion the stipulation implied. I guess this will become a Best of 5 series at least. Only a table came into play during the match, which made it mean more but it would have been nice to see a different weapon to put the punctuation on the match, not a length of rope. WORKRATE: 2.25/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 1.75/5 OVERALL: 4/10
