This is a match I had to do out of personal curiosity. I've not seen much of Vampiro's work, but he peaks my interest when he's around. Being the main reason I gave Lucha Underground a try in the first place. The Great Muta has way too long of a career to have an excuse to not seen very much of his work, and Sting is just the Stinger. Tony Schiovane, Mark Madden and Scott Hudson are our commentators for this match, immediately making me regret my curiosity. “Mean” Gene Okerlund gets an interview with Sting before the match. He reminds Sting that the outcome of tonight's match won't affect his WCW Championship chance tomorrow night on Nitro, whether the champion is Kevin Nash or Booker T. It's a match to settle the score with The Dark Carnival. Sting says he goes way back in violent matches with both of his opponents. But tomorrow night he'll become the WCW Champion again. He's attacked by Jeff Jarrett! Jarrett says he's going to take Sting's title shot tomorrow night, and Sting didn't beat anybody last Wednesday.
We cut to a pre-tape of Mike Tenay at David Flair's door. He's a really impatient knocker. Eventually Flair answers the door, asking if Tenay's alone. There's clearly a cameraman with him, but he doesn't count for the sake of this and we're let into David Flair's house. He's clearly not been doing too good since Miss Hancock, Stacy Keibler left him at the alter and told him that he's not her babydaddy. Tenay asks how it's affected Flair having that happen on National Television. I mean... Does that need an answer? He then asks who Flair thinks the father of the child could be, but Flair darts to the window before trying to light a cigarette. Tenay asks again if Flair has any clue who it could be. David blames his then 11-year old brother Reid. Mike Tenay says it probably isn't Reid. He then casts doubt on it being "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. David Flair darts to the window again claiming the father's there. The mailman becomes the victim of a clothesline and Figure Four before David Flair runs off and Tenay shouts for someone to call an ambulance.
Vampiro enters the match first, accompanied by The Insane Clown Posse and wearing the JCW Championship. They decide to replace Scott Hudson and Tony Schiovane and I'm not sure which option I'd have preferred. The Great Muta makes his own entrance to The Dark Carnival's music. I think it's Madden that calls it a Three Way Dance, but it's under one fall rules so it's just not. It's mentioned that Sting has never beaten Vampiro.
VAMPIRO VS. STING VS. GREAT MUTA (Triple Threat Match)
WCW Fall Brawl (17th September 2000)
Vampiro jumps Sting on the walkway. The Great Muta joins the party and if you hadn't guessed this is pretty much a handicap match for Sting. Respect to Sting for taking his trenchcoat off during an asskicking. They move around ringside and Vampiro slams Sting's head into the apron. Sting tries to grab a chair but it collapses so Vampiro sends Sting's head into it. Muta and Vampiro take it in turns stomping Sting on the floor as ICP are just pulling for their boys on commentary and Mark Madden's kissing their asses because he's scared of Juggalos. Sting gets sent into the crowd and Vampiro kicks his ass there whilst Muta follows. Sting is sent into the barricade from the other side, getting sent (climbed really) over on the second attempt. Vampiro walks Sting over to the commentary table where Shaggy 2 Dope gets a cheap shot in. Violent J waves the JCW belt in Sting's face as Vampiro slams his head off the desk. The Great Muta grabs a chair and jabs Sting in the ribs with it. Sting reverses an irish whip sending Vampiro into the guard rail and he knocks Muta down with a clothesline, but gets caught with one by Vampiro. Vampiro is thrown a kendo stick by Shaggy and bounces it off Sting's spine before finally sending him into the ring. Muta gets some cheap kicks to the ribs, and Vampiro isn't happy about that. He tells Muta to stay out of the way before backing Sting into the corner with strikes. Sting fights back from the corner and blocks Vampiro trying to smash his head off the turnbuckle. Vampiro is quick to grab a side headlock but Sting sends him off the ropes. Sting clotheslines Vampiro down but Muta blindsides him. Sting is able to fight Muta off and avoids a spin kick. Sting sends Muta into the corner but Muta avoids the Stinger Splash! The Great Muta sends Sting into a flying clothesline from the top by Vampiro and hits a quick elbow drop. Vampiro again tells Muta to stay out of the way. Vampiro sends Sting off the ropes but ducks too early. Sting runs into a kick and Vampiro hits a back suplex. Vampiro takes his time calling it the end so Muta slams Sting down and hits a moonsault! Vampiro stops the cover. The Dark Carnival members come to blows. ICP try to keep their guys from killing eachother and Sting returns with a bat. He clears The Dark Carnival, left with Muta in the ring and puts us out of our misery with a Scorpion Deathlock.
WINNER: STING
Well..... Fuck curiosity. I didn't expect a lot but, more than that would have been nice. Probably the worst case scenario for these three guys. Just WCW in a nutshell. A Mexican Legend, a Japanese Legend and an American Legend just walking around for 10 minutes. It wasn't interesting, it didn't do much and from the way Muta was betrayed I'd prefer he'd stayed at home. – WORKRATE: 1/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT -6/5 OVERALL -5/10
