The final review of the week is the main event for Lucha Underground Season 1 Episode 2, named "Los Demonios". It is the debut of Mil Muertes facing off against Blue Demon Jr. Before I get on to the meet of the post, I'll just let you guys know I'm picking WWF Fully Loaded matches to review next week. Monday will be from 1998, Wednesday from 1999 and finishing Friday with 2000.

Monday: Owen Hart vs. Ken Shamrock (Dungeon Match)
Wednesday: Steve Austin (C) vs. Undertaker (First Blood WWF Championship match)
Friday: Triple H vs. Chris Jericho (Last Man Standing)

Another commercial break brings us to Blue Demon Jr standing in the ring ready for our main event, Mil Muertes enters the Temple with Catrina, who is holding a red napkin that Striker says is important to Muertes, she helps him prepare for battle as the fans chant “Lucha” Matt Striker comments that Blue Demon Jr doesn't look intimidated, and he gets the crowd behind him.

MATCH 3: MIL MUERTES VS. BLUE DEMON JR

Muertes charges at the bell, knocking Blue Demon Jr down and stomping on him near the ropes. He intimidates the referee before bringing Blue Demon Jr to his feet, only for seconds though as he hits an overhand chop, sending him back down to the mat. Knees to Blue Demon Jr's back force him to take a breather outside but Muertes follows him, chopping him at ringside. Blue Demon Jr is sent headfirst into the announce table and sent back into the ring as Catrina cheers on Muertes from ringside. Blue Demon Jr reverses an irish whip and ducks a clothesline before arm dragging Muertes across the ring. Standing front dropkick sends Muertes down but it looked rough, overhand chop in the corner hits Muertes loud on the chest. Muertes reverses an irish whip but Blue Demon Jr avoids a charge in the corner and slaps Muertes across the face, but Catrina's on the apron, and that momentary distractrion allows Muertes to slap the taste out of Blue Demon Jr's mouth.

Last week he was the bigger man, this week Blue Demon Jr is the smaller man and with his age and the Lucha style I'm not sure how I'm feeling about it. I don't have to worry about it for now though as Blue Demon Jr slumps over the middle rope, Catrina kicks him with her stilleto and drops his throat over the rope too. Mil Muertes brings him to the corner to chop the skin off his chest, I think I saw a nipple fly off! Blue Demon Jr is sent across the ring but charges into a back elbow, then a boot. Blue Demon Jr bulldogs Muertes out of the corner, immediately covering for the first nearfall of the match. Blue Demon Jr knocks Muertes down with a clothesline but takes too long climbing for a moonsault. Muertes cuts him off and hits a lungblower! “that sent his spinal cord through his nostrils” - Vampiro. Mil Muertes covers but it's only enough for 2. Muertes takes his time climbing to the middle rope and jumps into Blue Demon Jr's boot. Blue Demon Jr scurries to his feet and hits a quick DDT before covering but Mil Muertes kicks out at 2.

Blue Demon Jr sends Muertes into a corner, and his overhand chops echo around The Temple, the fans count along to 10 as Blue Demon Jr strikes Mil Muertes with right hands and punctuates it with a slap. Muertes is sent across the ring, but he stops himself in his tracks, turning around with a right hand to Blue Demon Jr. Spear breaks Blue Demon Jr in half as Catrina cheers on. Muertes stalks Blue Demon Jr as the legend makes it to his feet before a Flatliner finishes it.

WINNER: MIL MUERTES

I'm seeing Blue Demon Jr as a Gatekeeper in Lucha Underground, but his mobility can be an issue for me personally, he has limitations and for whatever reason Lucha Underground make no attempt to hide them. It took away some of the luster from what should have been a great dominant debut for Mil Muertes. Wrestling: 1.5/5 Personal Enjoyment 2/5 Overall 3.5/10

Mil Muertes mounts Blue Demon Jr and starts pounding on him with right hands, but before we can see what the red cloth Catrina holds is for Chavo Guerrero Jr rushes the ring with a chair, clearing it of Muertes and Catrina! Matt Striker comments on the respect between these two men as Chavo turns around and brains Blue Demon Jr with a chair! Chavo attacks Blue Demon Jr with right hands as Catrina looks on, rather pleased with herself. Two referees try to come to Blue Demon Jr's aide but they get knocked down too. The fans chant “why Chavo, why” as he grabs the chair, two unnamed Luchadores try to help out but they fall victim to the chair, bringing out Sexy Star, she pleads with Chavo to see sense, he wants one more shot so Sexy Star keeps begging with him. Chavo lays her out with a chair! The fans tell Chavo exactly what they think of him as he looks on to Blue Demon Jr getting taken out carefully on a stretcher. He looks pleased with his work. Chavo gets in some final shots in as Blue Demon Jr is taken on to a stretcher from the bodyboard. The EMTs take him out of the arena in an ambulance to end the show.
