MATCH 6: ADRIAN NEVILLE © VS. TYLER BREEZE VS. TYSON KIDD VS. SAMI ZAYN (FATAL 4 WAY – NXT CHAMPIONSHIP)
Breeze enters first. Obviously taking his selfies on the way to the ring. This is NXT's first fatal four way match. Breeze had a shot at the title recently but Tyson Kidd interrupted the match. NXT's own “People's Champion” Sami Zayn is out next and he hypes the crowd up ready. As Tyson Kidd enters we see clips from the “NXT Showcase” tag team match last Monday on Raw, with Zayn and Neville teaming against Breeze and Tyson Kidd. The champion is the final man to enter and he beat Bo Dallas at NXT: Arrival back in February to win the championship in a ladder match. It was Neville that asked for this match, wanting all 3 challengers at once, the sign of a fighting champion. Breeze gets a surprising pop when he's announced, Zayn's pop is naturally deafening and he gets an “Ole” chant to accompany it. Tyson Kidd basks in the fans' boos. The champion also gets a good reaction from the fans as he raises his belt and hands it over to the referee.
The bell rings and all four men cautiously close in on each other as duelling chants start that I can't make out. “Nattie's wife” is chanted at Tyson Kidd at one point. All 4 men not taking their eyes off any of their opponents as we get a four man test of strength, but no one commits, feeling each other out. They try again, and Breeze attacks Zayn, with Kidd attacking Neville. We're going to start out like a tornado tag match, heels and faces squaring off in the corners. Breeze and Zayn brawl under the bottom rope out of the ring, and Neville and Tyson decide to take it outside on the other side. We get some basic brawling around ringside as the referee just tries to get someone in the ring. Zayn and Neville get the advantage and both re-enter the ring. There's a stare off between friends before the heels get back in and attack. All four men end up back outside, and Zayn quickly gets the better of Breeze, even taking a selfie with Breeze's phone and throwing his phone in the ring. We cut back to Tyson and Neville and Tyson has the advantage. He's also the only one of the challengers that has a pinfall victory over the champion at this point in time.
This won't be the most in detail play by play because the formula of the match and cutting between cameras makes it hard to keep up. Tyson Kidd goes over to help Breeze, feeling Neville's incapacitated for a while. Tyson Kidd sneaks up on Sami Zayn and throws him in the ring, but Zayn catches Tyson Kidd in a Good Shot to lock in the Koji clutch in the middle of the ring. Tyler Breeze dives in to make the save, and Kidd rolls out for a breather. Adrian Neville brings Breeze out of the ring and chops him up the rampway. Smart getting him out of the ring, but he's far away if there's a fall. Tyson Kidd chop blocks Neville at the top of the entranceway and catches Zayn with a boot. Kidd and Breeze hit a double suplex on the champion, and all four men are down. Kidd makes it back to his feet and catches Zayn with a boot on the ramp. Breeze goes to help Tyson Kidd out, Kidd walks off and Zayn blocks Breeze's suplex. Kidd offers assistance and Sami Zayn is sent back first on the ramp.
Tyson Kidd rolls Zayn back in the ring and he's trending on twitter. Tom Phillips still calls him Nattie's husband and gets told off. Kidd slowly gets back in the ring and Breeze isn't far behind. Breeze holds Zayn in place as Tyson gets a running start for a kick to the midsection. They stomp away on Zayn before Kidd hits an elbow drop. Neville's made his way back to the apron but Tyson Kidd sends Sami Zayn into him with an accidental shoulder barge and knocks him off again. Kidd chokes Sami Zayn on the middle rope and Breeze hits a knee drop. Kidd poses for the crowd as Breeze puts in the graft. Breeze stands on Zayn's face as the fans chant “Nattie's better” at Tyson Kidd. Zayn tries to escape across the ring, but Kidd catches him in a front facelock. Tyson Kidd gives Breeze a free shot at Zayn before stomping the “lower midsection” Breeze keeps Neville at bay whilst Tyson Kidd works on Sami Zayn. Zayn fights back at Breeze with a forearm but Tyson Kidd beats him into the corner. Double irish whip sends Zayn across the ring and he runs into a double back elbow. Breeze covers and Kidd pushes him off.
There are some choice words between Kidd and Breeze before Breeze turns his attention back to Zayn. Tyson Kidd knocks Breeze out of the ring with a spin kick and hits a neckbreaker on Zayn now they're alone. Kidd gets a nearfall, and catches Neville with a dropkick, again keeping him out of the way. Kidd drags Sami Zayn away from the ropes and hits another elbow drop. Tyson Kidd covers but only gets one. Tyson Kidd immediately applies a chinlock on the ground, but Sami fights to his feet and counters with a jawbreaker, sending Kidd into the corner. Kidd is just that bit quicker, knocking Zayn down with a clothesline. Neville rolls back in the ring, but Tyson sends him straight out over the top rope. You can see the frustration on the champion's face, as Tyson Kidd snapmares Zayn over in the ring. Loud kick to Zayn's ear and Tyson Kidd covers, 1, 2, no! Tyson Kidd chokes Zayn on the bottom rope, and kicks his leg, just attacking whatever he can reach. Kidd gets some mounted punches near the ropes and the referee breaks it up. Zayn rolls out to the apron, but Kidd reaches through the ropes to grab him. Elbow drop by Kidd leaves Zayn hanging in the ropes and Kidd hits a second rope legdrop for another nearfall.
Tyson Kidd hangs Sami Zayn in the tree of woe and notices Neville back on the apron. He sends Neville down to the floor, then goes out to the apron to hit him with a hard kick, knocking him down. Kidd back in the ring and he hits a running dropkick to Zayn, still stuck upside down. Kidd covers, hooking both legs and gets a close nearfall. We see a replay of his Penalty Kick to Neville from the apron as Zayn and Kidd get back to their feet in the ring. Zayn using the corner to stay upright, and Kidd hits him with a right hand. Zayn fires back with a slap! Slap exchange is won by Tyson Kidd and he beats Zayn down in the corner. Snapmare by Tyson Kidd and he goes back to the chinlock, keeping his weight above Zayn. Kidd is looking around the ring keeping an eye on his other two opponents. Zayn starts fighting his way up, but Neville's entrance causes Kidd to release the hold, and Neville gets some shots in on Kidd. Kidd quickly sends Neville out of the ring and goes back to Zayn. I think Breeze got killed or something, he's not been in the match for a while. Kidd sends Zayn into the corner but runs into a back elbow. Running forearm by a returning Neville follows, and Neville knocks Kidd down with a clothesline. Neville sends Tyson Kidd across the ring and hits a backdrop. Breeze now reappears and attacks Neville, sending him out of the ring. Sami comes out of the corner with a clothesline, and another both knocking Breeze down. Sami hits a dropkick on Breeze sending him out the ring. Zayn looks to fly onto Kidd and Breeze but Neville beats him to the punch with a springboard moonsault to the floor!
NXT chants by the fans as Zayn and Neville are the only two standing. We get a standoff, Neville outside, Zayn still in the ring, before Neville enters and ducks a clothesline. A combination of kicks by Neville is finished off with a running boot. Zayn goes to recover in the corner, Neville sets up for his cartwheel back elbow, but Zayn catches him but drops him before he can hit a back suplex. Zayn covers but Tyson Kidd breaks it up. Tyson Kidd sends Zayn out of the ring and crotches Neville on the top rope, Kidd climbs but Neville fires at him with rights to the gut. Headbutt by Neville sends Kidd back to the mat, but he launches Zayn at Neville, sending him crashing to the floor. Breeze quickly in and sent out by Tyson Kidd. Tyson Kidd hits a fisherman's neckbreaker for a nearfall. Tyson Kidd stalks Zayn and attempts a sharpshooter, Zayn tries to kick him off and rolls through but Kidd still has the hold on. Zayn kicks him off harder and sends him out of the ring. Tyson Kidd lands on the apron and hits Zayn with a kick from outside to the head. Springboard elbow drop gets knees and Zayn sets up for the Helluva Kick, Tyler Breeze back in and catches him with the Beauty Shot! Super(model) Kick to Tyson Kidd. Neville comes flying in and eats a dropkick! Breeze covers Neville but only gets 2. He covers Tyson Kidd for the same results and he is visibly frustrated at not getting the win there. Fans begin chanting for CM Punk for some reason.
Breeze picks up the champion and puts him on the top rope, Breeze climbs for a superplex and Kidd joins him, Zayn recovers to powerbomb both the other challengers in a Tower of Doom spot. Zayn cover Tyson Kidd, 1, 2, 2.999, No! Fans chant “that was three!” at the referee. “this is wrestling” chant follows as Breeze has rolled out of the ring. The remaining three are slow to get to their feet, but Zayn gets there first. Tyson Kidd isn't far behind him, and Zayn beats him into the corner, Neville's made it to his feet in the opposite corner and meets Zayn with a boot. Neville climbs to the top rope, and Tyson Kidd attacks, but is easily kicked off. Neville hits a shooting star press on Zayn, but Breeze throws Neville out of the ring and tries to steal it! 1, 2, 2.999999, NO! Zayn's still fighting. Tyler Breeze sits in the corner in disbelief, but he's giving Zayn too much time here. Breeze looks for the Beauty Shot but Zayn dodges it and Tyson Kidd is there with a sharpshooter! Breeze in the middle of the ring tries to get to the ropes but Kidd drags him back. Tyler Breeze is holding on for dear life, and Neville runs in to hold his arm from tapping! Zayn rushes in to break it up too. Neville and Zayn are on their feet in the ring, and they start a strike exchange. Zayn seems to have the better of it until Neville kicks him in the ribs. Neville with a running start gets sent over the top to the apron. Tyson Kidd runs in and gets caught in an Xploder into the turnbuckles. Zayn then dives through the ropes at an angle to hit Neville over the barrier with a tope! DDT THROUGH THE ROPES BY ZAYN! Zayn gets back in the ring and connects with a Helluva Kick to Tyson Kidd. 1, 2, Neville drags the referee out of the ring to save his title! Zayn shouts at Neville and climbs out of the ring. Superkick by Neville! Neville climbs to the top and Red Arrow on Tyson Kidd ends the match.
WINNER: ADRIAN NEVILLE (STILL CHAMPION)
This was the first Fatal 4 way in NXT history, but they made it seem like it was each man's first multi-man match ever. The formula was in your face, especially with Tyson Kidd's control segments, two guys in 2 out. The heels working together at the start worked, and the Tower of Doom spot was OK even if it did take a while to set up. Neville hitting a shooting star instead of Red Arrow earlier in the match was a nice (if only accidental) touch, and the fans were fully behind Zayn. I knew the result of the match and still must have bitten on a good amount of the nearfalls by the end of that match. Not the best 4 way match, but they all did well and got a chance to shine. Tyson Kidd's NXT run really is a highlight of his career, in ring wise. Another thing this match had over a lot of wrestling nowadays is that everyone's finisher was protected to certain degrees. No kickout flurries in NXT! I'd rate the match 4.1/10
