BUDDY LANDELL VS. DUSTIN RHODES

 Before the match, Tony Schiavone is with Missy Hyatt. Missy says tonight she’s going to be getting an interview from the locker room later tonight.  Buddy Landell makes his way out first, followed by Dusty’s kid. Dustin jogs to the ring as Ross asks Dusty if he’s going to be able to be impartial. Dusty reiterates that Dustin is “the Natural”

BUDDY LANDELL VS. DUSTIN RHODES

WCW WrestleWar 1991 (24^th February 1991)

  Buddy Landell slaps Dustin Rhodes and eats some right hands as a receipt. Dustin Rhodes sends Landell off the ropes into a backdrop before connecting with a dropkick.

  Buddy Landell hides behind the referee for a while to slow the match down. They lock up and Landell knees Rhodes in the midsection. Landell connects with a right hand, backing Rhodes into the corner for chops. Dustin switches positions and connects with right hands and elbows. Buddy Landell is sent across the ring into the turnbuckles, staggering out into a hip toss. Dustin Rhodes knocks Landell down with a clothesline for 2. Landell runs into an arm drag, Dustin controls the left arm but Landell gets back to his feet. Dustin Rhodes wrenches the arm but Landell connects with right hands to break it. Buddy Landell slams Dustin Rhodes and climbs to the top rope but gets cut off with a shot to the midsection, Rhodes brings Landell back to the mat and Buddy begs off again. The fans are behind Dustin Rhodes, which could be because he’s here to wrestle.

  They lock up and Landell backs Rhodes into the corner, Dustin Rhodes reverses an irish whip but runs his shoulder into the ring post. Buddy Landell kicks the shoulder and drops his knee across Rhodes’ throat. Nick Patrick is our referee here, I thought he was but JR confirmed it on commentary. Buddy Landell chops Rhodes and connects with a right hand, covering for 2. Landell kicks Rhodes in the midsection and drops him to the mat in a wristlock. Landell mounts Rhodes for punches and rakes at Rhodes’ face from above. Buddy Landell slams Dustin Rhodes for 2. They seem to fuck up an irish whip spot, then Landell whips Rhodes off the ropes into a sleeper hold. Dustin counters into a sleeper of his own but is backed into the turnbuckles. Buddy Landell runs into Dustin’s boot in the corner, which is apparently a Size 12.

 Dustin Rhodes knocks Landell into the ropes with a clothesline, with another sending Landell over to the floor. Dustin brings Landell back into the ring for a press slam before hitting the Bulldog for the win.

WINNER:  DUSTIN RHODES

 . The finish was strange, but it was a solid enough match with a whiffed irish whip. Dustin looked comfortable in the ring with a veteran and they got a basic match out there. [**¼] 4.25/10
