NATURAL DISASTERS (C) VS. BEVERLEY BROTHERS

Before the match, the Nasty Boys are backstage, they say they should be getting the title shot and ask Jimmy Hart if they’re getting a shot, Hart says of course they are.

Vince McMahon and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan are on commentary for this match.

We cut back to the end of the Beverley Brothers’ entrance, they enter the ring with The Genius who recites a poem. The Fink is our ring announcer. The Natural Disasters make their way to the ring and Heenan states the obvious, that the Beverley Brothers can’t match strength with the champions.

NATURAL DISASTERS © VS. BEVERLEY BROTHERS

(WWF Tag Team Championships)

WWF SummerSlam 1992 (31st August 1992)

The Beverley Brothers start by jumping the Natural Disasters, each kicking one opponent in the corner. The Beverley Brothers try and send the champions into each other but Earthquake reverses the irish whip and knocks one of them down.

Typhoon knocks down the other and one of the Beverleys gets sandwiched. The other brother meets the same fate then the Natural Disasters squash them both together. Typhoon starts with Blake Beverley, sending him off the ropes with a back elbow, Typhoon slams Blake and walks over him. Blake rolls out of the way of the elbow drop and rakes Typhoon’s face, he tries to slam Typhoon and lifts him up but Typhoon lands in a pin. Beau Beverley breaks it up but is sent to the floor by Earthquake. Typhoon sends Blake across the ring and hits the running splash. Earthquake is still in the ring, he sets up a running splash but the referee gets in the way, he takes too long thinking about it, Blake Beverley avoids the splash as Beau keeps Typhoon in place by holding his ankle. Beau stomps on Typhoon, using the ropes for more height and sends Blake Beverley into the air to splash Typhoon, who throws Blake out of the ring at 2.

Blake Beverley gets right back on Typhoon with right hands and stomps as Brain tells us Shawn Michaels has left Wembley Stadium. Beau Beverley gets the tag and hits a diving headbutt whilst Blake holds Typhoon in place, following with a leg drop before taunting the crowd. He covers but only gets 2 before tagging ot. Leapfrog by Blake as Typhoon is draped over the ropes by Beau and Blake starts choking him in the ropes. The referee backs him off allowing Beau chokes Typhoon more from the apron. We get a phantom tag as Beau keeps the pressure on Typhoon and the referee believes that the heels tagged. They tag right in front of him and Blake hits an ax handle from the top rope as Typhoon is in a front facelock. Blake connects with right hands, sending Typhoon back into the corner, he backs the referee away and Beau takes some time before choking Typhoon with the tag rope. Earthquake tries to get in to help his partner but the referee keeps him in his own corner as Typhoon is being double-teamed in the Beverleys’ corner.

Beau Beverley tags in and hits an ax handle from the top rope as Blake has Typhoon in a front facelock, Beau hits the ropes for a jumping headbutt and covers, but only gets a nearfall. He goes to the front facelock, but Typhoon is able to power his way to Earthquake in the corner and make the tag. The referee didn’t see it! Beau drapes Typhoon over the top rope as Blake hits an ax handle whilst the referee is distracted. Beau Beverley kicks Typhoon in the ribs and chokes Typhoon with his boot. Blake stands on the bottom rope, choking Typhoon further before getting the tag. Typhoon is sent back-first into the turnbuckles as McMahon rightly asks the referee how long the 5-count is. Typhoon explodes out of the corner with a double clothesline to the Beverleys and starts crawling to Earthquake. He gets cut off by one of the Beverleys, I think Blake. Typhoon takes a headbutt, then catches a crossbody attempt.

Beau Beverley climbs to the top turnbuckle and hits a missile dropkick, Blake lands on Typhoon in a pin 1, 2, no! Blake Beverley keeps on the attack as Typhoon gets to his feet. Blake hits the ropes but runs into a facebuster. Typhoon crawls for the tag, but Earthquake drops to the floor as Beau Beverley and the referee get to his corner. The Genius hands Blake the metal scroll and he hits Typhoon across the back with it. Blake covers but Earthquake his him with a running elbow drop before the referee can start counting. Typhoon tries to make it to Earthquake and does, just as Beau is made the legal man. Earthquake clubs at Beau Beverley and hip tosses him across the ring, he hits a belly-to-belly suplex and calls for the end. Beau backs himself into the corner, Earthquake hits him with shoulder thrusts and is attacked from behind by Blake. The Beverley Brothers send Earthquake across the ring and he knocks them down with a double shoulder tackle.

Typhoon disposes of Blake from the ring and sends Earthquake into Beau in the corner, Earthquake slams Beau Beverley and hits the ropes, he knocks Blake to the floor as he hits the Earthquake splash for the win.

WINNERS: THE NATURAL DISASTERS (STILL WWF Tag Team Champions)

This wasn’t a great match, and it was strange having the bigger guys as babyfaces, the Beverley Brothers held their own, isolating Typhoon for most of the match and nothing looked embarrassing, but it was just there. [**] 3.75/10

After the match The Genius complains to the referee from the apron, but he is brought into the ring by the Natural Disasters and sent over the top rope on his way.
