PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY VS. JIM CORNETTE

 Both men cut promos on each other before the match, this match has a 15-minute time limit, but I don’t think it’ll be needed. Paul E walks out first. Jim Ross and Bob Caudle are on commentary and Ross is already advertising the next match. Jim Cornette makes his way out as we see a sign saying NWA rules WWF stinks, which is hilariously blurred on the Network.

 

PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY VS. JIM CORNETTE

(Tuxedo match)

WCW Great American Bash 1989 (23^rd July 1989)

  Jim Cornette grabs Paul E. and backs him into the ropes before clocking him and removing Dangerously’s jacket. Cornette gets powder thrown in his face. Paul E. Dangerously attacks Cornette’s knees with his telephone because he forgot which knee was injured and removes Cornette’s jacket.

  Paul E. Dangerously knocks Cornette down with a right hand and stomps. Jim Cornette is using the ropes to stay on his feet as Paul E. peppers him with right hands. Dangerously twists Cornette’s knee around the rope and kicks at it before choking Cornette with his necktie. Cornette cuts Dangerously off and chokes him from behind until he’s forced into the corner Jim Cornette kicks out at Dangerously, Paul E Dangerously spits at Cornette, who flails out of the corner before collapsing. Dangerously keeps attacking the knee at ringside and sends Cornette’s shoulder into the ring post. Paul E Dangerously celebrates in the ring, waiting for Cornette. Paul E. Dangerously slaps Corny, Jim Cornette rolls out of the way of the elbow drop. Dangerously connects with right hands but it fires Cornette up. He kicks Dangerously and connects with right hands. Jim Cornette unloads on Dangerously as the crowd count along and he removes Dangerously’s shirt. Paul E. Dangerously grabs a headlock but is sent into the ropes, they both go down as they collide.

  Paul E. Dangerously has the powder again but Jim Cornette kicks it back in his face and removes Dangerously’s trousers to win the match.

WINNER: JIM CORNETTE

This was just a fun manager humiliation match, it didn’t take too much time and it didn’t need to look crisp, but it has to be rated accordingly. [*] 2.25/10
