RAZOR RAMON VS. BOB BACKLUND

 Randy Savage, Jim Ross and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan are on commentary for this match. Razor Ramon makes his way out first, as Heenan starts talking about David Copperfield. Backlund makes his way out with no music because he’s from a different era.

RAZOR RAMON VS. BOB BACKLUND

WWF Wrestlemania IX (4^th April 1993)

  Razor Ramon throws his toothpick at Backlund and refuses to shake his hand before the bell. They lock up and Backlund is sent back into the corner. Ramon shoves Backlund into another corner as JR makes some money for the WWF Hotline. Bob Backlund trips Razor, so he hits the corner then starts sweeping Ramon’s leg before celebrating, Ross calls Backlund a technical competitor after that move. Razor Ramon asks for a test of strength, he kicks Backlund in the midsection and softens him with a right hand before slamming him. Another slam, then Razor connects with a boot. Razor Ramon knocks Backlund down with right hands. Backlund gets a shot in but Ramon keeps clear advantage with right hands and boots. Randy Savage seems to only want to talk about the rest of the roster as Backlund is sent back into the corner. Backlund tries to fight back with a slap but is stunned by a right hand from Ramon. Bob Backlund reverses an irish whip, he takes Razor Ramon over with a hip toss, then another back across the ring. He misses a dropkick but connects with the running forearm. He sends Ramon over with a butterfly suplex and a delayed atomic drop sends Ramon out to the floor. Bob Backlund brings Ramon back in the ring the hard way but gets caught with the inside cradle for the three!

WINNER: RAZOR RAMON

This was a good match, if only a bit short. Bob Backlund got enough in the final sequence that the fans were behind him, but Ramon had enough left after weathering the storm to get the win. Backlund did his job well, making Ramon look great in a compact match. [*¼] 3.25/10
