LITA (C) VS. MICKIE JAMES

 Before the match, Todd Grisham is backstage with Lita and Edge. Lita defends her WWE Women’s Championship next against Mickie James, Todd asks if Lita has changed her mind about retirement and she gets some cheap heat whilst replying in the negative. Edge takes over, talking about his match tonight, Team Rated RKO vs. Team DeGeneraion X, as Cryme Tyme sneak into Lita’s locker room behind him. They tell Grishaam he didn’t see anything before sneaking away.

 

  Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler are on commentary for this match. Mickie James enters first. JR says it will finally be a fair match, as James was restricted in various ways leading in to this match, Lita enters for her final match

WWE Survivor Series 2006 (26^th November 2006)

  Lita mocks Mickie James to start but is slapped in the face, Mickie James gets a drop toehold, then stomps Lita on the mat. Lita is sent into the top turnbuckle, James gets some body shots and chokes Lita on the middle rope. Mickie James connects with some terrible kicks in the corner but is sent across the ring by Lita. The champion has some momentum, sending James over with a monkey flip and raining down punches. Lita gets some right hands, knocking Mickie back into the ropes and sends her into the turnbuckle, Mickie tries to fight back but Lita throws her across the ring. Mickie James fights to her feet and commentary just plain say that this is a rehash of Trish Stratus’ story a couple of months previous. Mickie James sends Lita down with a clothesline and sends her into the corner. Lita reverses an irish whip sending Mickie James into the opposite corner, but James looks for a headscissors, Lita slams her face-first to the mat. Mickie James is sent into the mat a few more times, then is knocked down with a knee lift. Lita chokes Mickie on the middle rope. We see some replays as Lita works on the midsection using the ropes. Mickie James tries to fight back but Lita hits a Russian leg sweep for a nearfall.

  Lita stomps at Mickie James and gets another nearfall with a suggestive cover as the crowd calls her a crack-whore. This isn’t quite the send-off Trish got. Mickie James fights back to her feet with forearms but is caught with a snap suplex for another nearfall. Lita waits for Mickie James to get to her feet and jumps on her back with a sleeperhold. Mickie James falls back and tries to cover but Lita keeps her shoulder off the canvas, so Mickie has to scramble to the ropes, but Lita holds on for some of the count. Lita climbs to the top rope but eats shit on the crossbody attempt, Mickie James starts to make her way up but Lita brings her back in the ring with a back suplex. They exchange right hands as the crowd inform Lita of her herpes, Mickie James backs her into the ropes and sends her off into a clothesline. James hits a back elbow and a chop, then covers for a nearfall. She’s been watching some Jimmy Snuka matches.

 

  Mickie James kind of connects with more terrible kicks and covers for another nearfall, then a Fisherman’s suplex gets another 2 count. Mickie James sets up the DDT as we see replays but is shoved into the corner, Lita runs into a forearm, Mickie James tries the headscissors but is sent overhead and face first into the mat. Lita hits the Moonsault! 1,2,2.5! Lita sets up a DDT but Mickie James is able to grab the top rope, she covers Lita for another close nearfall. Lita catches Mickie James in an inside cradle for a nearfall, James gets the waistlock and they roll backwards exchanging nearfalls, Mickie James hits the jumping DDT and covers for the win.

WINNER: MICKIE JAMES (NEW WWE Women’s Champion)

I wanted to like this match, but it was too clunky. Mickie James’ kicks looked terrible at this point, I wasn’t expecting RVD, but they just looked miles away. It seemed pretty even, and Mickie did get to kick out of a moonsault. [stars] /10.

  After the match, Lita brings Lillian Garcia into the ring, Garcia wants a reaction for Lita, who only gets boos. She calls it disrespectful and says there’s no better crowd to leave in front of, which I think was meant as an insult. Cryme Tyme’s music hits, they’re out here to sell a bra, her yeast infection cream and then spot John “Bradshaw Layfield at ringside, who wants to smell her panties before he buys them. JBL said that, the guy that won the WWE title from Eddie Guerrero. They take his $100 bill and throw the panties into the crowd. Finally we have a sex toy. Except it’s not finally, since they still need to sell Lita’s “big wide box” Lita throws a tantrum in the ring as Cryme Tyme leave empty handed, but with cash.
