ARMAGEDDON 1999 TAG BATTLE ROYAL

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler are on commentary tonight, they welcome us to the show, The Dudleyz enter for the 8-team battle royal. The winners get their title shot at Royal Rumble. They get some mic time, at this point Bubba Ray carried on the stutter from ECW, he took aim at Edge & Christian who arrive through the crowd. The Dudley Boyz and E&C brawl before the other teams enter, Edge hits a dropkick on Bubba, D-Von Dudley eats a dropkick from Christian and both Dudley Boyz bail to the floor. The Headbangers are out next, followed by the Hardy Boyz, Terri leaves before the match. Rodney and Pete Gas from the Mean Street Posse enter, with the Acolytes bringing back some credibility to the match. Too Cool make their way down, finally followed by Godfather and Mark Henry. The Hos accompany them to ringside and leave as the match starts, which gets a boo from the crowd.

They all enter ring and brawl, there's no order as tag teams assist, Bubba is the first one I notice leaning over the apron, thanks to Jeff Hardy, but he reverses it. Jeff fights his way back in as Edge and Mark Henry pair off, Grand Master Sexay has been stuck in the corner since it started, Bradshaw is keeping him there at the moment and Godfather is choking Scotty 2 Hotty in the opposite corner. Edge and Mosh roll out of the ring away from the chaos and exchange rights on the floor as JR tries to figure out which Headbanger is which. Rodney went over the top rope but everyone missed it, so Joey Abs slides in to replace him. Bubba Ray and Bradshaw are exchanging right hands in the corner, Scotty is getting offense in on D-Von. Rodney replaces Joey Abs again taking advantage of there being just one referee in this match. Farooq throws Pete Gas out as the referee finally counts an elimination.

Bradshaw and Mosh almost eliminate Matt Hardy, but he survives. Thrasher is taking on both Dudleyz. Mosh is thrown over the top rope but Thrasher refuses to leave the ring as Edge and Christian are fighting Too Cool in the corner. Bubba Ray misses a running splash in the corner on Matt Hardy, Bradshaw takes advantage. They then join forces and eliminate Mark Henry along with Farooq. I haven't mentioned before now but Henry and Godfather had some nice double-team moments in this match in amongst all the brawling. Farooq saves Bradshaw from being eliminated, Grand Master Sexay hits Matt Hardy with an ax handle from the middle rope as the Acolytes almost eliminate Bubba. JR mocks his stutter, but D-Von makes the save. The Hardyz and Dudleyz pair off, as Edge & Christian are still working on 2 Cool, Scotty 2 Hotty is sent over to the apron but suplexes Christian. They exchange rights on the apron as their partners notice, Edge charges and knocks Scotty to the floor, Christian is able to low-bridge Grand Master Sexay and that leaves 4 teams.

D-Von Dudley and Bradshaw exchange right hands as Edge and Christian double team Bubba Ray. D-Von assists Bubba and brings Christian to ringside under the bottom rope. Matt Hardy avoids an elimination attempt by Farooq, Matt sends Farooq over to the apron but Farooq quickly scrambles back into the ring. Bubba Ray Dudley sends Edge over to the apron, D-Von hits him from ringside and drags Edge to the floor by his tights. The Dudley Boyz isolate Jeff Hardy, sending him off the ropes into a double clothesline. The Acolytes are isolating Matt in the corner as The Dudleyz set Jeff Hardy up on the top turnbuckle, Bubba hits a fisherman suplex as Bradshaw walks over to D-Von. Bubba Ray hits a DDT on Bradshaw as Matt tries to eliminate Farooq, but Farooq rakes the eyes. The Dudleyz hit the Wassup headbutt on Bradshaw, they hit a back suplex neckbreaker combination on Jeff Hardy, but Matt sends D-Von over to the floor. Leaving himself practically alone with the Acolytes. Matt Hardy pairs off with Bradshaw in one corner, Jeff reverses an irish whip sending Farooq into another. Jeff is sent over to the apron, hitting the ring post on the way down. He brings Farooq down to the mat and hits the Arabian press moonsault on Farooq. Matt Hardy is able to cut off Bradshaw and hits a tornado DDT out of the corner, no Bradshaw tries to send Hardy over the top rope, but they both fall to the floor at the same time. The referee has no idea who landed first and decides to ask them as they brawl. Jeff Hardy is choking Farooq with his t shirt and stomps him in the corner. Bradshaw sends Matt Hardy's head into the ring steps and gets back in the ring. He attacks Jeff from behind, Bradshaw hits a short-arm Clothesline from Hell and the Acolytes start double teaming Jeff and send him into the corner, Jeff Hardy catches himself and sends Farooq over to the floor with a headscissors. The referee was on the other side of the ring so Farooq just gets back in. Jeff cuts him off as Matt gets back into the ring too, hitting a Twist of Fate on Bradshaw. The Hardyz hit Poetry in Motion on Farooq but Jeff can't capitalise and Matt walks into a big boot from Bradshaw, Matt Hardy ducks a Clothesline from Hell and dropkicks Bradshaw over to the apron. Jeff Hardy hits a missile dropkick but Bradshaw is still able to keep his feet from the floor. Farooq hits a standing spinebuster on Jeff Hardy and reverses an irish whip, sending Matt over to the apron as Bradshaw low-bridges him. Jeff Hardy runs at Farooq, but is sent overhead, clearing the top rope and hitting the security wall on his way to elimination.

WINNERS: THE ACOLYTES (#1 Contenders WWF Tag Team Championships)

What a finish! This was a pretty standard battle royal match but the only having one referee out there confused me, because there's always multiple. It became a factor too often, the Mean Street Posse switching places for the beginning was fun, and gave them a purpose in the match. The Acolytes looked strong throug the match and just to say it again, that finish. Almost any team could have won it and .– As a match it's ** but personally I'd rate it 4.5/10
