WILLIAM REGAL VS. TAJIRI

Vince and Linda McMahon are backstage, Vince McMahon tells his wife she can't be concerned for their business and concerned for peoples' safety. Shit happens, to put it crudely. Michael Cole shows up for an interview and asks Mr. McMahon about tonight's main event. McMahon seems annoyed that Cole is concerned. He declares victory for team WWF thanks to his credentials as a businessman and teases a member of Team Alliance turning. William Regal appears and tells Mr. McMahon he's not falling for the mind games, he knows Steve Austin is loyal to The Alliance. Team Alliance will do to Team WWF what he's about to do to Tajiri. Paul Heyman uses the sponsor time to take more shots at WWF on commentary and we see William Regal using what JR describes as “unnecessary force” on Torrie Wilson on the previous Smackdown, leading to this match.

William Regal is the Commissioner of the Alliance and he enters first. Tajiri enters next, he's the WCW Cruiserweight champion at this point in time. JR mentions that William Regal brought Tajiri into the WWF, Heyman says he brought him into the US in the first place. OK, Heyman wins that one.

The bell rings, Tajiri kicks Regal's leg, but Regal blocks two more attempts and catches the third. A forearm knocks Tajiri back but he kicks Regal in the jaw. William Regal lifts Tajiri into a fireman's carry and rolls through. Knee strikes hit Tajiri in the face. William Regal hits the ropes and another knee knocks Tajiri down. Regal's nose is busted open as he sends Tajiri off the ropes, Tajiri ducks a shot and dropkicks Regal in the knees. Tajiri kicks at William Regal's legs, but gets cut off with forearm shots, Tajiri is against the ropes and they fumble before he's sent into the corner. Tajiri locks in the Tarantula in the ropes, he's sent off the ropes but hits the handspring elbow, Regal tries to send Tajiri out of the ring and he's hung him in the ropes! Regal pulls at Tajiri's legs for more pressure before the referee frees Tajiri. Tajiri counters a tigerbomb into a hip toss, Buzzsaw kick by Tajiri! The referee starts counting them both down but Tajiri is on his feet first, William Regal ducks the kick, tries the tigerbomb but Tajiri counters, Regal hits the second attempt, covering Tajiri for the win.

WINNER: WILLIAM REGAL

This was just a short match, it didn't mean much in the long run but JR and Heyman were gold on commentary again, the hangman spot was crazy for such a nothing match and an exciting finish boosts it up a bit.– As a match, it's *¾ but personally I'd rate it 2.75/10

After the match, Regal hits another tigerbomb to Tajiri before going to leave, Torrie Wilson runs down to check on Tajiri and Regal returns to the ring, he drags Wilson to her feet by the hair and hits a tigerbomb to her too.
