LEX LUGER (C) VS. STAN HANSEN

Jim Ross and Paul E Dangerously are on commentary for this match. Before the match Stan Hansen is backstage, he spits chewing tobacco at a pumpkin and says he's coming for Luger's title and taking it back to Texas. He enters first, destroying the set as he makes his way to the entranceway. He has the bullrope with him as is custom. Lex Luger enters and I forget how popular he was at this point in time. Jim Ross uses a paragraph to tell us to expect 2 big guys hitting eachother hard and there's a long stalling segment before Hansen gets ready for the match in his corner.

Hansen kicks at Luger's chest then sends his head into the top turnbuckle, each with a signature Luger grunt. Lex Luger cuts off Hansen with a knee lift and a slam, but takes too long working the crowd. Hansen kicks out and knocks Luger down with a knee lift, then keeps kicking at Luger. Stan Hansen with a rare headlock takedown as Paul E explains that's to soften up Luger's neck for the lariat.

Hansen starts punching Luger in the face, deciding it's the quicker solution and sends Luger across the ring. Lex Luger avoids a charging Hansen, who goes over the top turnbuckle to the floor. Luger joins him and backs him up with right hands, Hansen's head is sent into the elevated entranceway and they go back into the ring. Hansen is backed into the corner with rights, Luger continues with rights and boots in the corner before bringing Hansen out with the hip toss. Luger hits an elbow drop, and another for a nearfall. Stan Hansen hits Luger with rights in the corner and shoves the referee down. He hits a shoulder tackle to Luger in the corner and signals for the Lariat, but Luger explodes out of the corner with a clothesline of his own! Dan Spivey appears at ringside, he's been teaming with Hansen in Japan and he throws the bullrope to his mentor. Hansen wraps it around his fist but Luger ducks the shot and sends Hansen over with a back drop. He hits Stan Hansen with a bulldog as the referee starts to wake up and signals to the crowd for the Torture Rack, but takes too long. Stan Hansen gets to his feet and hits the Lariat! LARRIIIAAATOOOOO!!!! Stan Hansen covers and wins the US title.

WINNER: STAN HANSEN (NEW WCW United States Champion)

Jim Ross told us what to expect from the start, it was a good example of 2 big guys colliding. Hansen and Luger have really different styles but they meshed well in this match. The match was a lot of punching and slams, with one big move turning the tide for any period of time– As a match it's **½ but personally I'd rate it 6/10
