NEW DAY (C) VS. THE CLUB

On 25th July The New Day passed the record for longest reigning WWE tag team champions, The Club took offense to this fact and attacked New Day, injuring Big E in the process. For this match Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston represented The New Day, taking on Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson under Freebird Rules to defend the championships.

Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton are on commentary for this match. Earlier in the night Gallows and Anderson are backstage, they meet up with AJ Styles and “Too Sweet” He says The Club runs Raw and he runs Smackdown, he'll beat John Cena tonight. Finn Balor appears and doesn't Too Sweet them, walking off to an audible groan from the crowd. Flo Rida's ”Who's with me” is one of tonight's theme songs, as told to us by Mauro Renallo.

The winners of the Summerslam sweepstakes are shown, taking us through their Summerslam weekend experience. Jon Stewart enters to introduce The New Day, Cole reminds us that he was pivotal in Seth Rollins beating John Cena last year, going home the first man to hold the WWE and United States titles simultaneously. He even has the unicorn horn... Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston finally come down to the ring. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson come down in their doctor coats and holding their sample jars. We see a replay of their attack on Big E a few weeks ago causing his “ringpostitus”

THE NEW DAY VS. THE CLUB
WWE Summerslam 2016 (21st August 2016)

Kofi Kingston starts with Karl Anderson, Anderson gets a headlock and takes Kofi down. Kingston elbows free but is dropped with a shoulder tackle. In a shocking move, Michael Cole actually talks about The Club's IWGP tag title success over in Japan as Kingston leapfrogs Dr. Anderson and hits a jumping back elbow. He takes Anderson to the corner but they switch and Anderson softens him up with rights before sending him across the ring. Karl Anderson monkey flips Kingston but Kofi lands on his feet, a monkey flip is pretty impressive for a guy Anderson's size, doctor or not. Kofi Kingston leaps in the air and stomps Anderson down before he gets a 2 count. Xavier Woods comes in and New Day double-team Anderson, getting Woods a 1 count. Karl Anderson powers Woods into the corner and gets the tag to Gallows. He hits Xavier with a right hand and sends him into the ropes, Woods ducks a clothesline and a back elbow, bringing Gallows down with a dropkick as Cole says he's actually the only doctor in the ring.

Kingston gets the tag again as Woods chokes Gallows with his boot. They start a series of quick tags and stomps that JBL has called the Unicorn Stampede, then Woods sends Kingston into Gallows with an irish whip into a dropkick in the corner. Kingston is still the legal man, but Woods dropkicks Gallows down to the floor before leaving the ring. Kofi clears the top rope and strikes a pose during his dive before dancing to Francesca the trombone's 3-note tune. Kofi sends Gallows back in the ring, Kofi climbs the ropes but Anderson's distraction gives Gallows a chance to kick him down. Gallows stomps on Kingston before making the tag out. Kingston is sent across the ring where Anderson ties his arm in the rope. He gets a nearfall and keeps hold of the now targetted arm, getting a tag to Gallows. Luke Gallows uses some trash talk, firing Kingston up for a comeback with lefts and rights, but he's dropped with a single uppercut. Kofi Kingston rolls out of the way of a running splash and they both crawl to their corner for the tags.

Xavier Woods hits first with clothelines to Anderson and a baseball slide helps him evade one too. He leaves Anderson leaning on the ropes and dropkicks him but only gets 2. Karl Anderson avoids the Penalty Kick by Woods but gets sent into the corner, he sends Xavier Woods over to the apron but eats an enziguri with Woods' “IronSheik like boots” thanks Cole. Xavier Woods walks the top rope and makes it ¾ of the way across the ring with an elbow drop for another nearfall. Karl Anderson lands on his feet on the slam attempt, Xavier does the same on a back suplex and Gallows runs into a boot. Kingston gets the tag. Xavier Woods hits a backbreaker and Kingston double-stomps from the top rope but Gallows breaks up the pin. Xavier Woods goes for Gallows but takes a boot to his face, sending him out of the ring. Kofi dumps Gallows but runs into a running kick by Karl Anderson. Similar to KENTA's old kick. Luke Gallows gets the tag and they hit the Magic Killer on Kofi.

Jon Stewart is in the ring, but soon backs off, trying to “Too Sweet” Gallows and Anderson, giving Woods the chance to get in the ring and hit them both from behind, the numbers game starts to work against him and Anderson hits him with a spinebuster. Jon Stewart tucks his shirt in (you need to do that before you get beaten up, you know?) but The Club get sick of his shit and start dragging him across the ring by his ankles, looking to crotch him on the ring post. The New Day's music hits and he storms out, hitting a clothesline on Anderson and a belly to belly on Gallows for the disqualification

WINNERS: THE CLUB (Disqualification)

This was an OK match, but not great. They gave everyone some time to “get their shit in” but they were just running the clock down until Big E arrived. It's not The Club that we all wanted to see when they went into WWE but it's what we got. This was just here so Cole could keep telling us that New Day have been chanpions for a year as many times as possible [* ½] 2/10.

After the match Luke Gallows is sent into the security wall, then Big E lifts Anderson and charges him into the security wall too. He does a Triple H impression with his sample jar and New Day dance and celebrate in the ring with Jon Stewart.
