This is the first match of the show, which begins with a
walkthrough of the area with a camera which nicely flows into live
action. Jim Ross and Tony Schiovane are on commentary.
PN News and Bobby Eaton enter first, together like any
other team worth their salt. To win you must either grab the other
teams flag or try to knock a member of the other team off the
scaffold. I know which way I'd rather lose. Steve Austin is the
reigning WCW Television champion, however, he teams with Terrence
Taylor. It's amazing how different someone can look 1 year later and
out of a chicken costume. Eaton and News make their way up the
scaffold. Schiovane asks why the Television champion is in this
match. Bobby Eaton is the only one to have any Scaffold match experience.
Taylor and Austin stall before making their way up, because these
types of matches aren't slow enough.

Great American Bash 1991 (14th July 1991)
The bell rings
when they all get to the top, it looks like Taylor and Eaton will
start on the narrow scaffolding but Taylor drops prone and backs out,
leaving Austin to go first. I wonder if he kept the costume from WWF.
Steve Austin gets the
first bit of offense on the man he beat for the TV title, with a
right hand, after raking the eye of course. Bobby Eaton gets the advantage with a facebuster
and we have our first tease of someone falling, with Austin clinging
to the edge. Taylor tries to get out there and help his partner,
whilst PN News chills out over by his team's flag. Austin calls
Taylor over and they back Eaton up, so he switches out for News.
Austin casually walks back over to his side, which would have been
funny to see, but we get crowd shots instead. Taylor and Austin
switch and PN News shoves
Taylor back to his flag. PN News locks hands with Terrence Taylor and
takes him down, leaving himself open to right hands by Austin.
Lady Blossom is
cheering Austin on from the floor, not that it will do much good.
Bobby Eaton follows News over and drags Taylor across the
scaffolding. PN News and Steve Austin exchange rights by Austin's
flag. Terrence Taylor finally
gets some offense in with rights on Eaton as the crowd get behind
Beautiful Bobby. Austin gets some kind of takedown on PN News, who
just lays on the scaffold as Eaton sends Taylor into the railing. PN
News tries to shuffle himself so he is covering the scaffold as
Austin hammers away at him. Taylor comes over for some double teams
but is blindsided by Eaton. There's some chain of pushing as Austin
and Taylor are backed into their corner by News. Austin tries to
escape as Eaton grabs the flag and the flagpole hits him across the
back. Bobby Eaton walks the flag back to his side to win the match
for his team.
WINNERS: BOBBY EATON & PN NEWS
The crowd loved the match and they were really
limited through the stipulation. Having Taylor take the bump after
the match seemed a bit of a cop-out since they all wanted a fall from
the scaffold and the hairspray before the bell rang to end the match
made me think they were going to have the heels take the flag to
their side and win the match whilst Eaton and News were blinded. [*]
but personally I can't rate it out of 10.
After the match (although it didn't seem like it)
Austin gets a can of hairspray from Lady Blossom and sprays both his
opponents with it. He throws it back down and climbs to the floor
with PN News as Bobby Eaton and Terrence Taylor fight their way down,
leaving Taylor to take a bump off the top rope. They brawl in the
ring after the match, with Taylor and Austin getting sent packing.
They try to rush the ring but Austin is dumped back out by Eaton, PN
News sends Taylor into the ropes and hits a hip toss before they all
leave.
