MIL MUERTES VS. FENIX

 Fenix and Mil Muertes hold a victory each over each other and from what I can see and remember were feuding over Catrina.  Episode 8 and Episode 12, making this the rubber match. As Matt Striker, who is joined by Vampiro, tells us.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 17: “A War Started in Mexico”

Mil Muertes blocks Fenix's attempts to take it into the ring and knocks him with a back elbow. Fenix runs into a big boot, Muertes tries to get him in the ring but he springs onto the apron, backflipping back down to the floor and catching Muertes with a superkick which knocks him into the ring. Fenix hits a springboard legdrop on Muertes and covers for 2. Mil Muertes blocks an irish whip, Fenix hammers at his arm but Muertes holds on to the rope before pulling Fenix into a combination of forearm shots. Mil Muertes mounts and swings his fists at Fenix on the mat then drops him with a DDT. Fenix is the only person to have beaten Mil Muertes one on one, but he's not looking too great now as a chop sends him flying. Mil Muertes hits a TKO for 2.

Mil Muertes drives his knee into Fenix's back to soften him up for a rear chinlock. Fenix fights to his feet, breaking free with right hands but gets decapitated by his own momentum as he runs into Muertes' fist. Catrina appears at the top of the steps, holding Muertes' precious stone. She walks over to commentary as Muertes hangs Fenix over the middle rope and drops him to the mat with a forearm. Mil Muertes hits Fenix with a right hand against the ropes, Fenix counters the irish whip, sliding between Muertes' legs and kicks him in the midsection. Fenix chops Muertes down with a running dropkick to the knee and makes an attempt at a double stomp across Muertes' back, it looks terrible but Muertes powders to the floor. All is forgiven as Fenix hits a twisting plancha springboarding from the inside of the middle rope! The fans chant let them fight as the referee counts them out. Yeah, fuck that guy for doing his job!

Mil Muertes trips Fenix off the apron and bounces his head off the ring apron repeatedly before breaking the count. Mil Muertes runs the ropes but Fenix dives through the ropes and hits a cutter! Fenix covers but only gets 2, so he drags Muertes over to the corner. A roundhouse kick was meant to soften Muertes up but it seemed to wake him up as Fenix climbs to the top rope. Mil Muertes quickly gets to his feet and hits Fenix with a right hand, knocking him off balance. Mil Muertes brings Fenix down to the mat with a monkey flip from the top rope and grabs his lifeless body by the throat, bringing Fenix to his feet. He looks at Catrina whilst he hits the Flatliner and covers for the win.

WINNER: MIL MUERTES

This was a good match. Mil Muertes dominated most of the match as you would expect being the pissed off ex boyfriend, Fenix was able to show his highflying skills and get the crowd excited but there weren't many moments where I thought he would win the match. I liked the difference of Catrina working into the finish just from her being there, with no interference WORKRATE: ** ½ Personally I'd rate it 2.75/5

After the match Mil Muertes motions for Catrina, she gets on the apron but refuses the lick of death. Mil Muertes drags her into the ring over the top rope and throws her into the corner. Fenix picks up the stone that Catrina dropped and clocks Muertes on the head with it. He hits a spinning enziguri to Muertes and Muertes receives the lick of death from Catrina! Fenix also gets a kiss in the ring before we go to commercial.
