LEX LUGER VS. GOLDBERG

Lex Luger pulled a referee between him and Goldberg during their match at Mayhem and tried to get Goldberg fired for attacking him. Commissioner Ric Flair said “fuck that, I saw what happened. I'm the dirtiest player in the game and you think I can't see what happened?” so Lex Luger went after Sarge, the trainer from the WCW PowerPlant Tony Schiovane, Scott Hudson and Mark Madden infuriate us on commentary for this match. Michael Buffer is in the ring for the introductions and Mark Madden calls Luger “as devious as he is ripped” during his entrance. Goldberg has streak #2 at a count of 30 before this match, only 140ish to go!

Lex Luger VS. Goldberg (No Holds Barred)
WCW Starrcade 2000 (17th December 2000)

Lex Luger darts out of the ring as Goldberg enters but gets followed to the floor. Ever the professional, Michael Buffer keeps going with his introduction as Goldberg begins attacking Luger and the bell rings. He sends Lex's head into the announce table, then the guardrail behind it. Those seats can't be great to be in. Lex Luger gets irish whipped into another section of the guardrail and his head is bounced off the steel steps before Goldberg gets it in the ring. Goldberg casually brings Luger into a short-arm clothesline. He drops Luger with a second, showing it's just his style, I genuinely thought there was a miscommunication. He kicks Luger in the corner and a half-butterfly suplex sends Luger across the ring. He tries to beg off as Goldberg stomps on him. Lex Luger is sent off into the ropes and dropped with a powerslam, so he decides to try and walk out on the match.
Goldberg follows him up the entranceway, decking him with right hands and calling it “payback” Goldberg lifts Luger to his shoulder, but Luger slips out the back, posting Goldberg. Goldberg is sent into the guardrail and in a brilliant dick move, Luger kicks away the chair Goldberg was using to get back to his feet, picking up another one to use as a weapon. Goldberg rolls out of the way as we see Sarge Dwayne Bruce coming out to the ring followed by Buff Bagwell. Goldberg cuts Luger off with a kick to the gut, but Luger gets back in the ring. Lex Luger attacks Goldberg as he's trying to get in the ring, with Sarge and Buff still talking on the entranceway. Luger also attacked Sarge earlier in the night and Sarge wants some revenge. As we cut back to Sarge and Bagwell Luger has Goldberg down with an ax handle, but when we cut back, a jumping shoulder tackle by Goldberg drops Luger.

Goldberg sets up for the Spear, Luger pulls another referee in front and Goldberg is able to stop before he gets started. Buff Bagwell jumps on the apron, bringing the referee to safety, but Luger leans through the ropes meaning Goldberg can't see him or some shit? I dunno, I hope it's not a technical DQ thing since it's NO HOLDS BARRED but you can't be sure. He hits Sarge with the brass knuckles that he was putting on. He decks Goldberg with them, then places them in the corner and covers, but Goldberg kicks out of a brass knuckles shot. I never remember that happening before or since! Bagwell stands on the middle rope, Lex Luger ducks the Blockbuster but he hits Goldberg. Bagwell looks pissed with himself but he had to get a bit more distance to avoid Luger. Lex Luger thanks Buff for the help by dumping him through the ropes and calls for the Torture Rack. Goldberg holds on to the top rope so Luger can't lift him, hitting a spinning neckbreaker, or “judo move” as called by Mark Madden. Buff Bagwell's decked Sarge on the floor in the easiest turn to call not including Big Show and he starts choking out Sarge as Goldberg Spears Luger. Goldberg wins with the Jackhammer.

WINNER: GOLDBERG

This looked like a blood feud from the build-up, the No Holds Barred stipulation was necessary because Goldberg had to get back at Luger. They then had a normal, not entertaining at all match when they got out there as if they forgot..– [** ] match but personally 5/10

After the match, Buff Bagwell waits for Goldberg to turn around, hitting him in the head with a chair and going to town on his ribs before tauntingly prodding him with the chair and leaving. Not long after, Goldberg checks on Sarge and brings a young fan he met recently to the back.
