MARK HENRY VS RYBACK

I find with creating a long list, as I am doing, I will need sub-par matches also (a few of the not-as-bad will undoubtedly just creep in) looking back at Wrestlemania 29 I remembered this match being one I wasn't thrilled with. However, having not seen it since I thought it would be perfect here.

Mark Henry is a BIG GUY Ryback is a BIG GUY (now calling himself The Big Guy) leading to them finding out who the best BIG GUY is. The build-up included a Bench Press competition, but that's all I remember. JBL, Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler handle announce duties. Before we get to the match we see a recap of John Cena's last 12 months moving towards his rematch against The Rock tonight. Snooki from Jersey Shore is shown at ringside before Mark Henry enters the match. Mark Henry's interference in Ryback's bench press competition forced Smackdown GM Booker T (I forgot he did that job for a while) to add a no-contact clause to the contract for this match. “Feed Me More” Ryback makes his way out and we're set to go.

MARK HENRY VS. RYBACK
WWE Wrestlemania 29 (7th April 2013)

They stare each other down in the middle of the ring, and neither man budges as they collide. They exchange right hands with Ryback getting a combination together. Mark Henry goes nowhere on a clothesline attempt so Ryback gets a bigger run-up. This time Mark Henry's staggered back into the ropes but Ryback runs into a clothesline causing him to be the first to leave his feet. Mark Henry hits a powerslam and covers but Ryback kicks out after 1. Ryback chops Henry's chest as they get back on their feet but Henry headbutts him. Henry sends Ryback across the ring but ducks too early. Ryback can't lift Mark Henry for a suplex, but Henry has no issues sending Ryback over to the apron. Ryback is sent into the ring post then Mark Henry knocks him to the floor with a clothesline. Ryback gets back in the ring at 4, but Henry's there with forearms to the back, setting up a bearhug. Michael Cole gives Bruno Sammartino a shoutout on commentary as Ryback turns around making it a waistlock, Ryback can't reach the ropes before Mark Henry drives him into the corner.

Mark Henry clotheslines Ryback over the top to the floor, but he slides back in to continue the match at 9. Henry beats down on Ryback, but Ryback fights back as he gets to his feet. Mark Henry puts a stop to that, dropping Ryback to his knees with a headbutt. Mark Henry goes back to the bearhug, Ryback tries to headbutt his way out and turns into a headlock. Ryback tries to lift Henry but Henry punches him in the gut. Mark Henry slams Ryback down to the mat and goes back to a bearhug, Ryback breaks it and eats a headbutt before laying in rights, Ryback sends Mark Henry into the corner, driving his shoulder into Henry's ribs. Ryback sandwiches Mark Henry in the corner with a pair of clotheslines before finally knocking Henry down with a Meathook clothesline. Ryback lifts Mark Henry for a Shellshock but Henry grabs the ropes and drops his weight onto Ryback, Mark Henry rolls Ryback over for the cover and wins the match.

WINNER: MARK HENRY

Mark Henry goes to leave then thinks better of it. He walks into a standing spinebuster by Ryback then Ryback hits the Shellshock to keep the fans happy.

This was a match. I feel like this was just here for Michael Cole to get excited over Bruno Sammartino's Hall of Fame induction last night. The result made no sense, and Ryback got to hit the Shellshock after anyway, making it all seem a bit pointless. – WORKRATE: 1/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 1/5 OVERALL 2/10
