JOSE LOTHRIO VS. JIM CORNETTE

Jose Lothario is the trainer, and at this point manager of current WWF Champion, Shawn Michaels. Jim Cornette is someone you need to look up on YouTube instead of Google, at this point he manages Vader, who wrestled for the WWF Championship last month at Summerslam. Before the match, there's a video package showing Jose Lothario training in the gym and in a ring. Jim Cornette is shown in interviews telling Jose Lothario that he (Lothario) will be beaten by the younger man (Cornette). It's surprisingly intense. Each time Cornette's tried to attack Lothario, Lothario has gotten the better of him. Jim Cornette enters first, he has his trusty tennis racket with him, but no assistance from Camp Cornette at ringside. We cut to backstage where "Razor Ramon" and "Diesel" are beating down Savio Vega. They're not supposed to debut until tomorrow night. Cornette has the mic and says the people get to see a real man for once. He puts over Lothario before saying he's a buried old cripple so he gets an out from the match, or Jim Cornette can beat his brains out. Jose enters to Shawn Michaels' music and wearing his jacket too.

Vince McMahon, Jim Ross and Mr. Perfect  are on commentary for this match.

JIM CORNETTE VS. JOSE LOTHARIO
WWF In Your House: Mind Games (22nd September 1996)

Jim Cornette tries to attack Lothario, but Jose Lothario ducks it and knocks Cornette with a right hand of his own. An overhand chop blinds Cornette and he gets sent into the ropes, only to return and be knocked down again with a right hand. Cornette slumps back into the corner, before Lothario sends him into the turnbuckle a couple of times. Perfect makes fun of Cornette's weight. A wound up right and open hand slap from Lothario win the match.

WINNER: JOSE LOTHARIO

I loved Cornette's selling here. As much shit as people give him, he really does love the wrestling industry. He oversells because he's a manager, he's not trained to wrestle, he helps guys that are. So everything hurts him more. Even against a retired wrestler like Jose Lothario. It was a fun minute for Pay-Per-View, but not a lot else. Your mileage will vary. – WORKRATE: 1/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 3/5 OVERALL 4/10
