DIESEL (C) VS. RAZOR RAMON

Help out the blog by bookmarking this link to Amazon.

Back at Wrestlemania 10 Razor Ramon beat Shawn Michaels in the first televised ladder match in WWF history, Diesel, at the time Michaels' bodyguard then won the championship from Ramon. This is Ramon's unwritten automatic rematch that's only automatic if it fits the story.... Anyway, the Two Dudes With Attitude won the tag team championships last night also, making Diesel a double champion. They have a pre match interview talking about Diesel being Midus and beating the Headshrinkers and winning more gold. Ramon couldn't get it done before and he won't tonight. Razor Ramon has NFL Hall of Famer and former Chicago Bear “Sweetness” Walter Payton, but Michaels simply brushes him off. Diesel and Michaels enter first, and Ramon and his second follow not long after. They all stand in the ring mouthing off, Michaels and Diesel not looking intimidated by Payton. Diesel and Ramon are finally left in the ring alone so the match can start.

WWF Summerslam (29th August 1994)

Ramon throws the toothpick at Diesel pissing him off. Ramon ducks a furious right hand and lays in with some of his own. Diesel bails out of the ring for some words of encouragement from Shawn Michaels. Diesel catches Ramon with a knee to the gut and clubs down on the back of his neck. Diesel changes his target to Ramon's kidneys with forearms to the back. Ramon is sent off the ropes and he tries to fight back, but a short arm clothesline knocks him down. Ramon ducks a big boot and clotheslines Diesel down. Diesel gets to his feet in the corner and is sent across the ring. Ramon runs into a back elbow and gets choked in the corner with Diesel's boot. Michaels gives a small assist from the outside but Walter Payton is having none of it. He's seriously the most popular person in this match. Razor Ramon tries to get some momentum but Diesel slams his face off the mat to put a stop to it. Diesel sends Ramon off the ropes and catches him with a sleeper hold. The fans will Razor to fight on, and he picks up Diesel with a back suplex to escape. Michaels wills on Diesel to get to his feet, and as both champion and challenger do so, Ramon charges at Diesel but Diesel sends him over the top!

Michaels walks around the ring to be away from Ramon as the referee checks on him from in the ring. Michaels untied the turnbuckle cover in a call back to Ramon's title loss to Diesel. There's stuff outside with both pairs trying to get an advantage without being disqualified and the referee trying to keep control. Walter Payton has the referee one side of ringside as Michaels runs up the ring steps and leaps off at Ramon with a forearm and does some cheerleading from the apron. Walter Payton helps Ramon to his feet and back in the ring at 6, but Diesel takes him to the corner to beat him down with elbows and knees. Diesel looks towards the exposed turnbuckle but Payton brings it to the referee's attention, and he blocks the way. Michaels draws the referee away so Diesel sends Ramon into the corner behind his back. Diesel hits a sidewalk slam but Razor Ramon kicks out at 2 ½. Diesel picks Ramon up and drops him on a protected turnbuckle with Snake Eyes and he chokes Ramon on the middle rope. Michaels holds Ramon in place as Diesel barges into Ramon again and clotheslines him down. Diesel hits an elbow drop and covers for another nearfall.

Diesel holds Ramon on the mat, wrenching his neck back but Ramon explodes to his feet! He fights out of the hold and ducks a clothesline but falls victim to a big boot. Diesel covers again but Ramon gets his foot on the bottom rope at 2. Diesel holds in an abdominal stretch for a ridiculous amount of time, grabbing the rope for leverage when he can. After 12 years Payton brings it to the referee's attention who makes Diesel break the hold after the obligatory 5 count. Diesel continues beating down on Ramon with clubbing blows and sends him across the ring. Ramon catches Diesel in an abdominal stretch but Diesel is quickly able to toss Ramon over. Ramon escapes a Snake Eyes attempt on the exposed turnbuckle and sends Diesel ribs first into the corner. Ramon rolls up Diesel, 1, 2, NO! Diesel hits Ramon with a right hand and sends him across the ring, but Ramon hits him with a knee lift. Diesel misses a clothesline and Ramon knocks him into the corner with right hands. Razor Ramon sends Diesel into the corner. Diesel tries to lift the boots but Ramon slides out of the ring and crotches Diesel on the ring post.

Razor Ramon dives off the middle rope with a bulldog, almost overshooting it, Ramon covers for 2 ½. Razor scoops Diesel up and slams him back down for another nearfall. Michaels climbs on the apron to get knocked down to the floor by Ramon. Diesel fights back but Ramon sets him on top. Diesel elbows Ramon away and climbs down, setting him up for a Jackknife powerbomb but Ramon back drops him over. Michaels is back on the apron before Ramon can set up the Razor's Edge and gets knocked off again. This gives Diesel a chance to try and get back into the match. Michaels grabs the belt on the outside and tries to bring it into the ring. Walter Payton plays tug of war with Michaels over the belt. The referee goes over to the commotion and takes the belt off Payton. Diesel holds Ramon in place for a superkick but Ramon moves last second! Michaels is hysterical around the ring, and Walter Payton chases him around ringside as Ramon and Diesel catch their breath. Payton drags Michaels off the apron as Razor Ramon covers a lifeless Diesel to win the championship.
WINNER: RAZOR RAMON (NEW WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION)

Another Summerslam, another Intercontinental championship match. Where as 1991 & 1992 were awesome 1993 & 1994 really shit the bed. Diesel and Ramon don't seem to work well as opponents, the non-wrestler got the best reaction and really Michaels made this match. Another disappointment in the books. – Rating: WORK RATE: 2.5/5 PERSONAL ENJOYMENT 1.5/5 OVERALL: 4/10

This was a time where The Clique as it would be known started all working together and in order to keep this in a "Degrees of Separation" format, I would be choosing between Diesel vs. Mabel or Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels: Ladder Higher. That's not much of a choice and I'm going to try and switch it up to keep things interesting in these parts I'll switch to a new Clique member in Sean Waltman. Known at Summerslam 1995 as 1-2-3 Kid facing Hakushi.
