I apologise I'm starting my Women's week late. A lot of things out of my control postponed it. However it will start today, with match #2 Wednesday and #3 Friday. Next week I shall use Monday and Wednesday to finish off NXT TakeOver: R Evolution and Friday there shall be a repost of Lucha Underground's television debut. With all three matches in one review. Next week I shall post episode 2.
Before the match we see Mr McMahon sitting backstage with William Regal. Vince says Regal must realise that this match between Trish and Stephanie was his idea. Stephanie's his daughter and Trish is his `good friend' he says since it WAS Regal's idea, he must know what to do. He must know exactly what to do. Regal doesn't have a clue. We get a build up video highlighting the feud, Stephanie McMahon doesn't like Trish Stratus' relationship with her dad, and she's just put her mum "in her place" to keep herself as the dominant female in the family, so she doesn't want to lose it to some skank, as she calls Trish. We cut to WWF New York where we see Busta Rhymes. WWF European champion Test is there, he says we'll see who the biggest Trashbag ho in WWF is after this match. William Regal catches up with Trish Stratus trying to find out how good of a friend she is to McMahon, but she doesn't have time for it, she has to slap a bitch. We see Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley walking backstage too. More advertisements for Raw (on TNN at the time) and WWF the Music: Volume 5 before Trish enters the ring. "Mrs Triple H" as JR calls her follows and they look ready for the match.
STEPHANIE McMAHON HELMSLEY VS. TRISH STRATUS
WWF No Way Out (25th February 2001)
Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley stares daggers through Trish as she makes her way to the ring. The bell rings and Steph takes Trish down. Steph windmills at Trish with slaps until Trish shoves her off using her feet. Trish tries to escape the ring but Stephanie's right there behind her, Steph grabs at Trish's ankles and Trish is able to hold on to the ropes, but she has to climb to the top, making her eventual fall even further. Steph knocks Trish down with a pair of short-arm clotheslines and I expect that to be as scientific as the match gets. Steph forces Trish into the corner by her hair and sends her across the ring the same way, pulling some hair out. Shitty stomp by Steph before she's right back to the injured bodypart with more hair pulling. Steph dumps Trish out of the ring, but Trish gets her boot up on a charge. Steph gets sent into the first row so Trish can get a breather.
Stephanie blocks a running attack by Trish and hits her with a right hand before hitting a flying clothesline from the barricade. Steph sends Trish into the ring and climbs onto the apron, Trish counters Steph's suplex attempt to the outside and drops her throat on the top rope. Trish sends Steph headfirst into the ringpost from the apron and brings her in the ring. Trish beats on Stephanie in the corner and bulldogs her to the middle of the ring. Trish covers but only gets a nearfall. Trish argues with the ref as Steph gets to one knee. Right hand to the gut by Steph before Trish brings her to her feet, eating another right hand. Steph tries to run to the ropes, but Stratus brings her back into a DDT for another nearfall. Trish sends Steph into the corner by her hair and chokes her, releasing at 4. Second choke is released at 2 before she climbs to the top turnbuckle, holding Steph's hair, Steph slams Trish off the top though!
Both women are counted down as we see a replay of the slam from the top. They both get to their feet at 6 and Trish charges again, but Steph dodges and dumps her through the ropes, into the Spanish announce table. Steph sends Trish headfirst into Lawler and JR's announce table before grabbing a water pitcher and launching the water at Trish! Trish fights back with kicks to the gut, and sends McMahon-Helmsley face first into the announce table, before sending her back into the ring. Trish charges and attempts a hurricanrana but Steph counters into a powerbomb for a nearfall. Steph pulls Trish's tights down to spank her and tries to strip her, but can't get her attire off, much to the male fans' (and Lawler's) dismay.
Steph chokes at Trish on the mat, releasing right before 5. Steph allows Trish to get to her feet, and they both charge, meeting in the middle of the ring, sending each other down to the mat. William Regal hurries down and trips the referee before putting Trish over Steph in a cover. The referee comes to and counts but Regal puts Steph's foot on the rope and points it to the ref. Regal doesn't know what to do. He attacks the referee again (I hope he gets paid per bump since he's not trained) and Trish asks him what the hell's going on. Regal apologises and holds his hand out to Trish before dropping her to the mat with her own arm! Steph covers and gets the win.
WINNER: STEPHANIE McMAHON-HELMSLEY
This match was a crazy brawl. These two really hated each other, and you could see it, with Trish choking Steph when she felt necessary, and happily using the announce table when Steph had done so. There's still the mystery of whether William Regal did the right thing or not. – Rating: 2.6/10
Post match we see a replay of the ending, and after commercials we see MrMcMahon backstage with Regal. McMahon is angry and makes an intergender tag team match tomorrow night on Raw. Regal and Stephanie vs. McMahon and Trish!
