CARLITO VS. HARRY SMITH
WWE Heat (WWE.com match)
Handling commentary tonight is Johnathon Coachman and Michael Cole
This is a WWE.com exclusive match filmed for Heat when WWE was on a United Kingdom tour. For those who don't know, he is the son of The British Bulldog, and if Bulldog is Manchester's son, DH Smith (or Bulldog Junior as he's now known) is Manchester's Grandson, raised by Calgary.
A link to the match on youtube is in the title.
Young Master Smith enters first to his father's theme tune and he cuts a short promo about being happy to be here as Coach says he wants this young man for Raw, Michael Cole wants him on the Smackdown brand. Carlito enters and I think 2007 was when Carlito stopped caring, and about the time (judging by this match) that management stopped caring too. Funny that... Carlito of course the son of Carlos Colon, a Peurto Rican wrestling legend and the promoter of World Wrestling Council on the Island, Harry Smith through his Hart routes is a third generation wrestler.
Smith is eager to lock up, but Carlito backs off through the ropes, so the referee has to intervene. Carlito has to jump for a side headlock, but the younger, stronger Smith powers him off the ropes and sends him down with a shoulder tackle, causing Carlito to scramble outside. He takes a quick walk, getting in the ring at his own pace, and shoves Smith. Smith shoves Carlito back, sending him on his arse. Carlito swings wildly but it's caught by Smith and he suplexes Carlito overhead for a nearfall. Smith takes control of Carlito's arm, but Carlito backs him into the corner and hits some strikes before sending Smith's shoulder into the post. More strikes on Smith as he's on his knees, and Carlito brings him up to his feet. Straight punch puts Smith on his back, Carlito covers but Smith kicks out at 2. Carlito grabs a top wristlock, and Smith's been favouring that arm for a few minutes now. Smith fights his way to his feet but Carlito slams him back down, grabbing the hold tighter. Smith again slowly gets back standing and breaks the hold. Carlito catches him with a back elbow and goes back to assaulting the injured shoulder, Carlito covers for another 1 count.
Smith really showing some fight here, as he's locked in a top wristlock again on the mat, but he fights to his feet and forearms Carlito until he's broken free. Carlito grabs a headlock but a spinning back suplex counters and buys Smith some valuable seconds. Both men down until six, and Smith hits a clothesline on Carlito knocking him down, a beautiful pair of standing dropkicks by Smith and he sends Carlito across the ring and lifts him waaaaay overhead for a back body drop, firing himself up. Smith hits a Northern Lights Suplex, bridging for a cover but Carlito kicks out at 2. Carlito back up with a standing dropkick and he goes to collect his apple, he takes a bite as he gets back in the ring but Harry Smith is back on his knees, and a right hand sends the apple chunks flying! Smith picks up Carlito for a running Powerslam! 1, 2, 3!
WINNER: HARRY SMITH
Harry Smith got a lot in this match, it was almost a squash over a proven star and that's what it needed to be. He had a great showing in front of the UK fans who of course cheered him every step of the way, he got a convincing win and really Carlito looked like he was there for the paycheck. This match really just is what it is, a WWE.com match to show off the son of a legend in an incredibly popular market. There wasn't much to it but it worked – Rating: 4.7/10
