OK so real life interfered and I've not felt great so I had to take a week off posting. I'm going to finish off some partially written reviews I have and try and get 4 more out this week. Then since Wrestlemania 33 is now in the rear-view I'm going to do a week of Wrestlemania rematches next week. Then back to NXT the week after.
This was the opening match to Wrestlemania 28. Available on the WWE Network or if you're Oldschool like me you can buy a hard copy here. Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler commentate. Michael Cole gives a shoutout to the people involved in the flyover as Sheamus enters for the match. AJ Lee accompanies D-Bry and she opens the ropes for him to enter the ring. This is Bryan's Wrestlemania debut. AJ goes out to the floor and both men stand in their corners to start.
The bell rings and Daniel Bryan brings AJ back up to the apron for a “good luck kiss.” but turns straight into a Brogue Kick from Sheamus! Sheamus covers and that's one match in the record books already tonight.
Well OK then, after being screwed and put on the pre-show last year in their United States title match at Wrestlemania 27, they get this bullshit a year later. I mean Bryan's crowd reaction went through the roof and their rematch at Extreme Rules was an improvement (as if that needs to be said.) Simply to put this in the middle of a “shit sandwich” the commentators got more time for their “match” last year than these two did for 2 Wrestlemania matches combined. I can't rate it highly since it's just one move and the knee-jerk reaction to the match is different to how you feel in hindsight. Really I've just had to type mindlessly for this and fluff it up. Also just to get it out the way, just the way for WWE to make these two guys and us fans feel like April fools. – Rating: 1.5/10
