RICK STEINER VS. ARN ANDERSON & PAUL E DANGEROUSLY

This match was supposed to be a mixed tag team match, with Missy Hyatt teaming with Rick Steiner. The Dangerous Alliance members enter first. Jim Ross says we don’t have much time on the broadcast before Rick and Missy make their way out. Rick is also one of the World Tag Champions. Dick Murdoch and Dick Slater, the Hardliners, make their way out and kidnap Missy Hyatt before she can enter the cage, making this a handicap match.

Jim Ross and Tony Schiovane are on commentary for this match.

RICK STEINER VS. ARN ANDERSON & PAUL E DANGEROUSLY

(Handicap Steel Cage)

WCW Great American Bash 1991 (14th July 1991)

Rick Steiner starts with Arn Anderson, as you would expect. Jim Ross gets a great line saying Paul E should hide on the Virginia State line so he’s safe. They circle and as Steiner gets near Dangerously’s corner, Paul E starts cowering. They lock up and Arn Anderson tries to send Steiner into the cage but it’s blocked. Another lock up, Rick Steiner gets a headlock, he’s sent off the ropes but knocks Anderson down with a shoulder tackle. Steiner runs the ropes as Arn goes prone, then picks him up in a slam. Rick Steiner turns his attention to Paul E and Arn Anderson hits him from behind with the knee. Rick Steiner reverses an irish whip and lifts Anderson for a stun gun, Paul E Dangerously hits Steiner with a cowboy boot, coming off the top rope. Steiner sells it and Anderson picks him up, Paul E hands Anderson the boot and Arn goes to the top rope, Rick Steiner fights off Dangerously and hits Arn Anderson with a Steinerline on his way down. Paul E Dangerously tries to escape the cage but Rick brings him back by the hair and knocks him down with the Steinerline for the win.

WINNER: RICK STEINER

This was a pretty decent match, for what it was. Missy Hyatt wasn’t allowed to wrestle because the State Athletic Commission didn’t have intergender matches, which is why the abduction happened, they didn’t have much time and it wasn’t going to be the best match of Arn or Rick’s career. JR was gold on commentary where Paul E was involved, but as an actual match I can’t rate it too high. [*] 3/10
